National geographic kids is another website that I can allow students to explore on their own. This website includes games and videos for students to explore, ask questions, and learn through an interactive game or video. I would use this website for students to go on when they have completed their other assignments since this website is intended to be student lead. Students can go onto this website and explore videos or play games that teach about cultures that students are interested in once they have completed their assignments in class. This resource is able to show what real places around our world look like which can lead to discussions about culture. 

Once students have had a good foundation understanding culture and having deep, meaningful conversations about culture and diversity I would have students conduct a research project using Google Earth. I would have students in groups choose either culture or part of the world they are interested in researching and have students use Google Earth to explore that part of the world. I would encourage students to look at neighborhoods, busy cities, and rural parts of the country to look for similarities and differences in the culture they are accustomed to. I would also have students research the people who live in that area of the world and ask what clothes do they wear and if there is a reason behind it. Could be religious reasons, or to fit the needs of the climate. There is a first-person view setting on Google Earth and I would ask students if they can find people, cars, evidence of life that can show how the people there live. I can use this learning game as a tool to help engage students in learning about different cultures. This game can encourage students to ask questions about diversity in the classroom. This game also exposes and helps students to think from another perspective and a different culture than their own. I can also use this game as a whole group instruction by projecting the picture or quote to the screen and have the class have a discussion before progressing through the game. This is the video that I would use first when introducing culture and diversity in my classroom setting because of the kid-friendly approach to the topic. This video explains what culture is and how they can be different before going into how culture impacts each persons' identity. This video goes through different cultures in our world. There are questions that the author poses throughout the video in which I will pause the video to open a discussion with my class. Students will be encouraged to do a turn and talk about what they are hearing and seeing in the video with a partner before returning to the whole group discussion. This will lead to richer conversations in the class before continuing on in the video. Another time I will pause is after each culture is presented and ask students about what similarities they see and what differences they see in the culture compared to their own. This lesson will teach about embracing cultural differences in our world, and how it is important to understand and accept the differences and beauty of cultures that surround us. By introducing cultural awareness through a video, students have the chance to see what it looks like instead of reading about culture from a textbook. This also allows students to see the culture in action to fully understand how traditions look by its people. This opens up the conversation about diversity which will lead students to develop a more meaningful understanding of the different cultures.
