The Student I like the Most ( Marcus)

my favorite student is Marcus. He seems very closed in the beginning. In the movie, however, you can see everything he's been through.
his friend killed himself before his eyes. This alone is such a bad experience that limits you to many things for the rest of your life. The police arrested him for doing so. so he had to sit in his juvenile jail all his childhood.
that made him cold. so his mother threw him out of the house.
Marcus, however, is a boy with a good heart. The fact that he has to live on the street is very touching. He is also one of the first to open before Miss g. For me he is a courageous young man who has a lot of potential.
I also think that many young people should take an example from him.

The film is about a young teacher who is coming to a new school. She gets a class with so-called special cases.
some of the school do not trust this task, the teacher does not.
When the teacher enters the class, she is overwhelmed. there are fights on the first day, nobody likes them.
but the teacher does not give up. she tries to promote the children. she even tries it with rap music.
but then the kids just make them out.
she does not give up. She gives the children a book where they can write whatever they want. they do not have to read it out, but they are allowed to.
slowly the children start to open. We get in the movie with what the children have experienced everything. Eva's father, for example, is in prison. Most children in the class have experienced a shootout. Many of them have lost a family member or a friend. some have been shot themselves before.
The teacher desperately wants the children to read the diary of Anne Frank. She believes the children can identify with it. However, this is not approved by the school board. Therefore, the teacher has to find a side job so that she can finance the books herself. Later, she is looking for more jobs so that she can also finance excursions.
the children live together strongly. The class is like a home to them. The teacher even invites the woman who hid Anne Frank.
At the end of the film the teacher does everything to keep the children in the 11th and 12th.
It took a long time, but it worked.

A judgment has now been given against Andrew's brother. That's why Andrew doesn’t come to school. A big problem is heading towards Mrs. Gruwell and her students. The school year is coming to an end. This means that Ms. Gruwell will not teach the class next term. However, the whole class is fighting for it not being so. They don‘t want to lose Ms.Gruwell, which gives them hope for a better life. Incidentally, Ms. Gruwell is in her divorce process. She puts Scot's things in moving boxes, with her father assisting her. He says to her that he is very proud of her because she mastered it all. The conversation about whether Ms. Gruwell can continue to teach her class begins. There are more teachers. These are strict against teaching the 11th grade and because Mrs. Gruwell has not worked there as long as them have. At first, Ms. Gruwell could not really convince, because there are too many things against it. However, the class refuses to be taught by another teacher. They only feel comfortable in the classroom. There they can stay as long as they want. They have support and security there. Besides, her class is like a family. The cohesion was built and he should stay that way. For the time being, the last project of Mrs. Gruwell is that the students should write their diary in their own books, like Anne Frank. Another conversation was pending. In this it turned out that they are allowed to continue teaching the class next year. She first tells the class that it isn‘t. The more they are happy then that it is so.

Eva becomes aggressive and is annoyed by the situation. She has learned that it is better to stick to the truth. Andrew asks his mother for help. He can‘t no more stand being ignored by her. He would much rather have her support to change. Now Eva has to go to court to testify. It's hard for her. From her gang & her family, she is supposed to lie to defend someone. But she stays with the truth. She no longer wants to lie in order to better represent her "race". Outside, according to the statement, Eva is persecuted by gang members. She tries to escape, but she does not succeed. They even hold the gun to her head. They say, "For us you died!" Besides, her dad does not talk to her anymore. Because she can no longer look at home, she dives. She lives with her aunt, a little further away. She tells Ms. Gruwell, who is always there for her and helps her. Meanwhile, the gangs understand each other in Mrs. Gruwell's class. In addition, the students report and try to improve their education. When Ms. Gruwell comes home, her husband already expects her. He wants to move out. Mrs. Gruwell tries to stop him. But he thinks that she prefers her class and that he is less important to her. She wanted to give the students but only a meaning in life.

Now the students said, "Leave the negative things that happened to you behind you." Each student should say a toast by saying what they want to forget. One of the students reads his diary. Everyone is there for each other and support each other. The students from the other classes would like to change to Ms. Gruwell's class, but colleagues do not like that. When Ms. Gruwell comes home, her husband is mad. She takes no time for herself and is still thinking about the class. The students read the book "Anne Frank" and write good grades. Eve enters the classroom sourly, where only Mrs. Gruwell sits and complains that Anne dies in the book. The next task for the class is to write a letter to Miep Gies. The class would like to meet Miep Gies. She still lives and she could teach the students a lot about her life. Since the students want to see this person, they do student donations, for example a dance party. Ms. Gruwell Dent the Peters to Miep Gies. In fact, it worked. Miep Gies visits the class. She was received by Andrew and told a lot about hiding Anne Frank.

Ms. Gruwell took a trip with her students. She thought it would be nice to visit a museum. So she picked up the students from home. Her father accompanied her and got out, for example, with Andrew, since there live only dark-skinned. Andrew's mother constantly ignores him because he looks like his father. His brother was imprisoned for life. But during a conversation in front of Andrew's door, Andrew said someone made a statement that would help his brother to come out. Now everyone goes to the museum together. The museum tells stories of children of that age in the midst of National Socialism. At that time they were all very young and already had bad things. That made the students very thoughtful. After visiting the museum, Ms. Gruwell organized a dinner together. In addition, some witnesses of National Socialism came to the restaurant. This pleased the students very well because the witnesses told their own stories. In their spare time, the students diligently wrote down their diary. Even at school, Ms. Gruwell's class got on very well. In other classes this was not the case.

It was parents' evening. Ms. Gruwell prepared a poster to welcome the parents. But nobody was there. However, there were a few parents with her colleague next door. Now, Ms. Gruwell thought she could use this time. She got the books out of the closet. It was amazing, because everyone has put his book in the closet. This means that everyone wants that Mrs. Gruwell reads the story about her life. Thus, she has come a step closer to the students. A student talks about his time in the cell. Another student talks about the time when her mother was beaten to death before her eyes. The others also talked about dead friends and family members. Each of them has already seen dead in the age of about 15 and 16 years. To deal with it is not easy. In addition, the students have many scars and injuries. For defense, some always have a pistol with them. They just want to protect their families and friends. Mrs. Gruwell decided to make outings with the students. For that she needed support she even got. She campaigned for it. Currently, Ms. Gruwell has three jobs, something her husband does not really like. He says she should take some time off.

The teacher has tried everything to make the lessons exciting. The students still bullied and beat. Less and less students came to school. One evening there was a robbery of a gas station. Students of Mrs. Gruwell's course were there. One of the students was an eyewitness. One of her gang members was almost shot dead. When Mrs. Gruwell heard about it, she was shocked. In class, a picture was passed around. One of the students painted a classmate. Mrs. Gruwell got this and clarified the students. At first nobody wanted to understand what Mrs. Gruwell wanted to teach them. But after a while, where they discussed, they understood it. The gangs have always been against each other, which has also caused the brawls and disputes. It was all because of the skin color. Dark-skinned hated white, as well as hated white swarthy.

War scenes were shown at the beginning of the film. These included fires, arms disputes and so on. The whole thing happened in Hollywood. There was a girl shown. On her first day of school, she really got the hang of the war for the first time. She heard a lot from the news, but she never got it right. On the day of her school enrollment, she waited for her father at the front door. He wanted to drive her to school. She wished her neighbor, who was also standing on the road, a good morning and then it happened. A car came up and shot him out of the car. Her father hurried to him and tried to help. When the police arrived, they arrested her father because he was now suspected. The girl went to school and was taken straight into a gang. Everything in the school was organized in races and the respective gangs. There was a new teacher at the school, Mrs. Gruwell. She was so happy to finally teach. But when she had her first lesson, it was completely different than she imagined. The students were disrespectful to her. Even among themselves, they were not respectful. Nobody listened. Mrs. Gruwell didn’t know how to handle it. She was speechless. The next days were the same. There were countless brawls in the school.

Freedom writers tasks after the film

1. The film is about a teacher who is new to a school. At first she is happy to go to school and thinks it isn't so hard to teach the students. But when the students came to the classroom, they noticed that they are very restless and that many are missing. The students do not listen to Ms. Gruwell, they talk to each other and argue. The next few days, fewer and fewer students come to school. Ms. Gruwell is trying hard to get the kids to their senses. She wants everyone to graduate and that they believe in themselves. She reads the book of Anne Frank with the students. Ms. Gruwell thinks the children can compare with that because their lives are also dangerous. As a task, the students get to write a diary themselves. Every day they should write down what they did, what worries them, or what happened, which may depress them. Together they go to a museum and they get the students under control. The students believe in themselves and want to graduate. The class grows together as a family and they all get on well. However, Ms. Gruwell has problems with her husband because he feels neglected. He eventually moves out and they even divorce.

2. I like Eva the most because she is a strong person and has been through a lot. She is committed to things and does not want to hear from anyone. She does what she thinks is right and I like that.

3. The class sticks together and they all understand each other.

4. I find it important for a teacher to give courage to the students. You should tell them that you can do something and support the students. That they can listen well, would also be important.
In addition, they shouldn't put pressure on anyone, because that stresses a lot.

5. I think some colleagues don't like them because they do a lot different from the other teachers. She works for her students and tries everything to get her way. She also wants to continue teaching to her students, although she is not allowed to do so by law.

Part 8
Ms. Gruwell is only allowed to teach the 9th and 10th grade. The students are dissatisfied with that since they are in the 11th grade. They have become like a family to each other and they do not want to lose.

At home, she packs things for her husband. She just can not believe she is getting divorced from her husband. Her dad is with her and tells her how proud he is of her. That she has really achieved a lot and that she has changed the students into a positive one.

The next day, Ms. Gruwell discusses with the director and 3 other lessons. She wants to keep the class and continue to teach her in the 11th grade and also in the 12th grade. First it is rejected and the students do not want that. Andrew has been missing several times over the last few days because his brother has been sentenced.

The students tell Ms. Gruwell that they have respect for her. They think she wouldn't graduate without her. Ms. Gruwell says that she should not make it dependent on her and that she can also graduate alone and achieve much in her life. The students are given the task of writing their diaries as a book. You should choose a title for this book and a name. Ms. Gruwell has said that this book is likely to be published.

Ms. Gruwell talks to the teachers again and it turns out that she is allowed to teach the students in the 11th and 12th grade. They are all happy. At the end a class photo will be shown and there is Erin Gruwell and Freedom writers 2006.

Part 6
Ms. Gruwell wanted the students to take a glass and say something. A few students have done it and they have become more self-confident and believe more in themselves. There was a boy coming forward who wanted to read from his diary. The students wondered who that is and they don't even know the name. He wrote that he is homeless and he has no more. Nevertheless, he goes to school and since Ms. Gruwell is there, everything is better for him. Meanwhile, he feels at home in school. He wears old hair and thus he feels uncomfortable.

A girl from the advanced course wants to switch to Ms. Gruwell. Her husband is offended and says she can't teach the student because the level is too high. In the end, he still apologizes to her.

The students read the book of Anne Frank and Eva goes to Mrs. Gruwell and asks her things about the book, but she should continue to read. Eva does not want Anne Frank to die because that doesn't fit the book and Marcus says she isn't death to him. He also says that Anne Frank understands the situation of the students. Ms. Gruwell wants students to write a letter to Miep Gies, what they think of the book, and explain their situation. Marcus absolutely wants to accompany her purely. The students want Miep Gies to come to them, so they do a "Taste for Change" event and collect donations, Ms. Gruwell sent the letters to Amsterdam, and Miep Gies came to Longbeach, and then Marcus was allowed to accompany them purely Telling the students that she tried to bribe jewellery to bribe the soldiers, any of the Jews kept hidden was shot or sent to a concentration camp, she was held a gun to her head, Marcus says she is a hero, but she thinks the kids are heroes because what she's doing is just strong, she also says she did the right thing.

The students left the class. Erin wants to look in a library if she finds a suitable book for her students. She wants the book Romeo and Juliet, but the principal doesn't want that the books be destroyed. The principal tells that the students should learn something different, like discipline. Erin talks with a man, but he says she doesn't know the students and they won't read the books. Then she looks at the children in the schoolyard as they play. Erin has the idea to make a red line in the middle of the classroom and when anything applies to the students, they should stand at the red line. She asks many questions so she can get to know the students better. But when she asked if the students had lost someone in a gang war, all are on the red line. Erin is very surprised when she sees that. She bought exercise books to bring the students to write something about their lives. She won't read it, Only when the students placed the exercise books in her cupboard which is closed after every lesson. At the beginning, no one picks up an exercise book. Then only one student came and picks up an exercise book. At home Erin talks with his husband about Eva.

Suddenly a car came and shot the person next to the car. After a few years, this little girl has seen the arrest of her father. A scene took place at the Secretariat, where a new teacher named Erin Gruwell was hired. The director tells Erin that the students are drive to school for one and a half hours and that she should not give up so much homework. Erin was very happy on her first day, she had 4 English classes and was waiting for a class in the classroom. She wrote her name on the blackboard. While the doorbell rang, she looked to the door because there were students going to their classrooms, but Erin's class was empty. After a few minutes all students came and Eva also came to class. When everyone sat down, Erin asked for the presence while all students ignored her. Two students began to insult themselves, Erin called for help, but no one came. She had an idea to talk about Tupac. But the students laughed at her. Every student knew that she teach her first time.

Eva visited her father who was in jail. And wanted to gift to him one of the books she read. But he rejected and gave her a lesson. He said that if you try to do better you will succeed. Then Ms. G went with the class to some sort of a museum. When they came to museum they took some kind of a card where it shows one of the kids in nazi timeline. The students saw how kids lived back then and saw that kids were murdered just because they were jews. One of the students read that one kid got killed when he goy out of the train. The student said "i saw a lot of deaths, but this kid, he was only five. After that they went to a restaurant to get something to eat. With them there were some of the people that lived in nazi timeline. And they told the students about there past. For example one of the people there said that when she was a kid she went to Auschwitz. One of her sister died there and she had to live with her 5 year old daughter. The students were shocked when they heared that. After the vecation Ms.G said to the class that they should take a class of cider and then confess something.

A student wants to read something from his diary. He said he is homeless now. He said that he feels at home in the classroom. A high school student wants to move to Mrs. G.. All students read the book you received from Mrs. G.. Eva wanted to ask Mrs. G. something about the book. Mrs. G. does not want to tell her anything. Eva was aggressive because Mrs. G. did not tell her Anne Marie was going to die. Mrs. G. wants all students to write a letter to Miep Gies. A student asked if she would send the letters to Miep Gies and if she could attend. The teacher said that she can not do that, because it costs a lot of money. The students were ready to even give money for it. All students are celebrating. They save money so Miep Gies can read her letters and then she visits the students. Mrs. G. managed to send the letters to Miep Gies. They even managed to bring Miep Gies to themselves. She told me something about her childhood. She said that a soldier held the gun to her head. Another soldier realized that she was from Austria and told the other soldiers that he should let them run away. Miep Gies was from Austria, she was only adopted by a Dutch family. Marcus stepped forward and said that he has never called anyone a hero. But Miep Gies said that it is not you who is a heroine for him, but that the students are the heroes.

At the center of this film is the young, idealistic English teacher Erin Gruwell. She takes her first job at High School in Long Beach, California. There she becomes a grade nine class teacher as well. The everyday life of the student is characterized by crime, weapons, gang affiliations, hatred and the struggle for daily survival. There are gang wars and extreme violence in the classrooms and in the schoolyard. The schoolyard is divided into tribal affiliations and each group is among themselves. Many teachers have already given up their students, calling them "uneducable" or "below average." Although she receives no support from the college, she develops a tremendous ambition to give these students a future again. Highly motivated and with unusual means, she slowly gains the interest of the students, for their new class teacher.

the Freedom Writers Movie is based in a real story about a teacher (Erin Gruwell) who changed the lives of young people separated by their ethnicities. Mrs. G, as her class calls her, is a first timer and she never really expects the type of class she is getting. Everyone in her class is disrespectful and seems to be gangsters, and do not care about school or their futures at all. The last straw is broken when an incident happens and she compares it to the start of the holocaust. This is a reality check for both, her and her students. As the year goes along Mrs. G finds different dynamics and projects that show her students that they are not as different after all. Therefore, she asks them to write in a notebook journal about their lives, and what they consider to make their teacher to know about them, all their different stories.
According to all her students' past, their lives, their stories, Mrs. G knows which is her responsability now, to make each of them reach their goals and make them believe in themselves no matter which situation they will face throughout their lives; but Mrs. G will face some other obstacles that will not let her down until she completes her proposal.

The character that I would like to focus on from “Freedom Writers” is Marcus. In my opinion this character has the most heart-breaking and warming parts in the film. What I’ve noticed about this character is a consistent, innate loyalty that I believe stems mostly from his roots.

From what may be gleaned of his microsystem, Marcus’s truly differentiating factor was his mother. There is no mention of a father-figure, and the only other influences may be only the other neighborhood kids he grew up with early on. Since the character of Marcus seems so very loyal to all those he cares for, I’m going to make the assumption that his mother spent a lot of time instilling the idea of loyalty into Marcus. The neighborhood he lives in may have had gangs there, which is what led him to start affiliating with them. The loyalty his mother influenced was probably a very attractive quality to these same gangs, given that one of the whole points of a gang is to gain protection from your peers.

Freedom writers - Tasks after the film

1.	The movie begins with a military tale. This is to show the war between different races. It also shows the school situation there. They are in a 10 class, which is now getting a new teacher. She’s called Mrs. Gruwell. She’s married and has two more jobs. The students of the school are all against each other. Every day there's a problem and the gangs are all against each other. That's what Mrs. Gruwell wants to change. Her class should work together and not against each other. Thus, she welds the class more together day by day. She even succeeds. The students work on their own diary. They are putting together many projects that Ms. Gruwell is organizing. They realize that they can help each other and are even stronger. At the end of the film, it's about whether the class can continue to keep Mrs. Gruwell as a teacher. Normally she doesn’t teach 11th classes. But after several conversations she’s allowed to teach the class farther. The students are very grateful to Mrs. Gruwell. She has put her hand in the fire for the complete class.
2.	I like Eva the most. I think she‘s very helpful to her classmates. She has been through a lot, which makes her look strong. I think it's very good that she has learned to lie in the film. I think also she has a strong and emotional side, which I like.
3.	In the end of the film they are very helpful. Our class is also helpful and I think that‘s similar.
4.	In my opinion a teacher must be helpful and they should help the students. They should understand the studends when they have problems and they should conside this. Maybe them they can help, too.
5.	I think that's because she has more success. She teaches students differently than her colleagues. She and her students having fun with each other and yet they write good grades.
