TOPIC: Sex Discrimination & Age

Sex discrimination:
Sex discrimination is a worldwide issue between the genders; whether it be women applying for construction jobs or men getting a degree in nursery, both find sex discrimination a daily issue. A Sex Discrimination Act was created in 1984 to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex, marital or relationship status, actual or potential pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, intersex status or breastfeeding in a range of areas of public life. However, the Act did not cover equal pay wages for women. In 1963, the first Equal Pay Act was passed to allow full-time female workers to earn 48.9% as much as male full-time workers. Even after the act, the wage gap between men and women still remain worldwide and mostly occur due to education, hours worked and occupation. On average, female full-time workers have to work an extra 66 days to earn the same pay as the average male.

Age Discrimination:
Age Discrimination is actually not a criminal offence as people might think it is. It is only classified as harassment when its frequent or severe that it creates a hostile or offensive work environment or when it results in an adverse employment decision such as the victim being fired or demoted.
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) only forbids age discrimination against people who are age 40 or older. It comes to any aspect of employment, including hiring, firing, pay, job assignments, promotions, layoff, training, fringe benefits, and any other term or condition of employment

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equal_Pay_Act_of_1963
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_anti-discrimination_acts
https://www.eeoc.gov/laws/types/age.cfm
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_Discrimination_Act_2004

T O P I C : Disability Discrimination

Disability discrimination occurs when a person with a disability is treated unfairly than a person without a disability in the same/similar situation.
There are two types of disability discrimination, direct and indirect. For example, a direct disability discrimination would occur when a person is refused entry into a restaurant or a store just because they're blind and have a guide dog. An indirect disability example would be when some certain buildings would only have a set of stairs as a way to enter. Therefore some people with disabilities who use wheelchairs would be unable to enter the building.
Disability discrimination also occurs when there is no rule or policy that is the same for everyone but has a unfair effect on people with a disability.
To be protected from any form of disability discriminations. The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) makes it against the law to treat you unfairly because of your disability. The DDA helps cover you if you have had a disability in the past, if you may develop a disability in the future and/or if people think you have a disability. The DDA also helps people who are relatives, friends, and careers of people with a disability are also protected by the Disability Discrimination Act.
A person with a disability has the same right to a person without a disability. If a person with a disability can achieve and do the activities or have the requirements of a job, then they should have an equal opportunity to do that job.
The Disability Discrimination Act says that in some circumstances treating someone with a disability differently won't be against the law. This is known as exception. For example, the DDA might say that it's not against the law to refuse employment to a person with a disability if, because of their disability they cannot perform the requirements of the job. However, the DDA must consider how the person with a disability could be provided with reasonable adjustments to help them do the job.
