Italy
· Natural attractions
1. Archipelago della Maddalena, Sardinia (islands) : the Maddalena Archipelago is a series of islands and islets that boast some of the Italy’s most heavenly beaches. With windswept, rugged coastlines made of rose-tinted granite, pristine beaches and translucent turquoise water, the archipelago feels like heaven on earth and has retained much of its natural beauty.
2. Castelluccio di Norcia, Umbria (Mountains) : Castelluccio, a small village nestled with the Apennine Mountains in central Italy, is best known for its fiorita, or flowering, that takes place in its fields each spring.
3. Amalfi Coast, Campania (Coast) : the impressive coastline is dotted with quaint towns and hillside villages that offer unparalleled views of the Tyrrhenian sea below. The Amalfi Coast has 13 municipalities in total, with Positano, Amalfi and Ravello being the most famous, and is well-known for its beaches, walking trails and dolce vita lifestyle.
· Cutural attractions
1. Colosseum :This huge amphitheater, the largest of its kind ever built by the Roman Empire and the largest of their constructions to survive, remained a model for sports facilities right up to modern times. Built by Vespasian in AD 72 and enlarged by the addition of a fourth story by his son, Titus, it was a venue for public spectacles and shows - even mock sea battles.
2. The Grand Canal in Venice : A gondola ride through the canals of Venice is a tradition that travelers have been enjoying for centuries. Venice is a city of islands, and the canals have long been the city's main streets, connected by a labyrinth of narrow passageways.
3. Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius : The still smoking volcano of Mt. Vesuvius looks down on the remains of the city it destroyed in AD 79. But that same eruption also preserved many of the city's art treasures: frescoes, mosaics, and sculptures that were encased in the lava as it cooled.
