These 3 object represent part of our Mexican culture. The first is a molcajete made out of volcano rock, and this was used to make salsa and continues to be used until now even though we now have blenders. The second is a servilleta, which keeps tortillas warm and it is a tradition and blessing to receive one from your mother in law on your wedding day. The third is a wooden made tortilla hand press. These all represent a part of our culture and you will most likely find at least one of these objects in a Hispanic household.

#1 Chicago Avenue and 38th Street: George Floyd Square. This is the site where the unfortunate death of George Floyd happened, which conveyed the controversial movement of Black Lives Matter. It represents the Symbol Concept because people use it as a gathering place to honor and remember him.

Alicia Keys: Girl on Fire represents Feminism because in her video as well as the lyrics, she is showing and singing about a woman who works hard and takes care of her household. She paints the picture of a struggling woman but even though woman have it hard, we don't give up and give it our all to make things happen for ourselves and our families.

The image of the woman presented on #6 is of the female judges who serve in the Supreme Court of the United States. This image represents Inequality, gender inequality, because out of 115 supreme court Judges, only six have been woman. Meaning 99 of them are/have been men.

"This guy looks like he's up to no good or he's on drugs or something", is a quote that was said by George Michael Zimmerman, a man who fatally shot 17 year old Trayvon Martin back in 2012. This quote represents discrimination because without knowing what the "suspect" was doing, Zimmerman assumed he was up to no good because of the way he looked. (Doing a little bit of research, I learned that the way NBC News played Zimmerman's audio of his call with the dispatcher, was a total miss Representation because they only played parts of the audio. Those parts depicted Zimmerman as a racist man stating that the suspect was "black" but they left out the part where dispatch had asked for his "race".)

The Wine Not the Bottle represents Gender Systems. Explaining that he is open to all wines, possibly representing pansexuality, and explaining that he likes the wine and not the label is a perfect representation of liking the person for who they are and not the gender they were assigned at birth.

This video of the Waitress berating Latino Couple for Speaking Spanish represents ethnocentrism, and a little bit of conformity. Although, most of the people stood up for the couple, the older couple who decided to stay quiet and agreed with the waitress shows they were comfortable with the way she berated them and agree that they should speak English because they are in America.
