The Wonderment is a website that teachers and students can use to help students explore their curiosities and answer questions that they might be wondering. It can allow for educators and students to promote and explore good deeds to help their community or other communities around them. This website breaks into three sections to choose from. You may choose a Path, a Project, or a Community. When choosing a Path, you are looking to collect ideas, answer questions, or issues questions for others to answer. A project focuses on the educator or students to develop their own project and try to bring it to life. It will allow you do document your progress and share with others to help your project succeed. For example, a class may want to create their own gardens and grow vegetables for their school lunches or to hand out to families in need. Finally, a Community can be chosen to establish groups of people to share their Paths, Projects, and their own communities. This brings a sense of community to a whole new level.

Pros

1. This is a website that the students and educators can create themselves and provide the ability to see their own Paths or Projects through. This brings several real life applications and discussions into a lesson.

2. Since this website focuses on helping others and sharing the good in the world, this is great to use for SEL (Social Emotional Learning) activities.

3. The variety the students can choose from is important to keep student interest and encourage their independence.

Cons

1. The website is working on narrowing the outside videos that are able to be shared because some videos have not been school appropriate.

2. This may need a great deal of educator monitoring during a lesson and plenty of planning time for a lesson using the site.

From the social media platforms that I go on and what we see on television lately, there is a great deal of negativity and disagreements between people. Many of the good stories are being overlooked and I was inspired to see a website that can show students the good in this world and how they can create their own good too.

Sit With Us is a social application that is designed to helps students find a seat at lunch. Students would register their email or Facebook account and can search for tables that have been created that are welcoming people to sit down or invite others to come sit with them. Also, students can apply to be an “Ambassador” who would host open lunches from time to time by reading and agreeing to a pledge. How it works is that the students would create a profile, with their picture and interests to inform who they would be sitting down with. They can also chat with one another on the application to create more friendships. The more students host their own lunches; the application will provide points for the students to collect.
