This is the twentieth government shutdown since 1976. This shutdown, now 28 days, this shutdown is the longest is U.S.A. HISTORY. Much of this shutdown can be attributed to a standoff over President Donald Trump's demands for $5.7 billion in appropriations to fund a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. The shutdown impacts about a quarter of the government, 9 federal departments. More than 50% of the unpaid workers are still expected to come to work.

This place expierences a lot of landslides because it is in the San Andreas Fault which often expierences earthquakes. In one winter, while people in Big Sur were doing road rapairs. A landslide struck multiple times , and couldn't rapair the roads. This place atttracts a lot of people because it is high i elevation, and even you don't think it is moving. It actually is moving

Summary of Chapter One of "U.S. Coast Guard". by Edward F. Dolan. (#1)

In the first Chapter of "U.S. Coast Guard", the author examines the the coast guardians missions and their purposes. According to the book's twelfth page,
"The workers have 3 basic responsibilities; to protect the public, to protect the environment, and to protect the nation's economic and security interests in any ocean, coastal region, port, or inland waterway where they are threatened." One detail that supports this is since September 11, 2001, the Coast Guard has been a big component of the nation's heightened security initiative (pg. 14). Another detail that supports this is when some personnel found cocaine totaling a worth $80 million in a motor vessel. If the drug hadn't been intercepted, the cocaine could've sneaked into the country. The third and final supporting detail is the FACT that It's the Coast Guard's absolute responsibility to intercept attackers if the Navy fails to do so. The Coast Guard truly protects the country in every way they can and It's amazing what they do, and all the sacrifices they make (like other armed forces) to protect the people.

In hurricanes, the author examines the hurricanes and how they destroyed our society, and explains that hurricanes in general do a lot of damage. Two details to support my thinking are hurricane Mitch which killed 10,000 nicaraguans, and 10,000 Hondurans because of mud slides. Another detail to support my thinking is that hurricane waves can sometimes reach 90 feet at a speed of 50 miles.

America is often hit with earthquakes and tsunamis (predominantly West Coast) and the Coast Guard always does their job to protect the people, protect the area, and heal the injured. It's not only that, if for some reason some overseas attack gets past the Navy, the Coast Guard has a big responsibility on their hands. This is to take down the attackers in whichever way they must. Be it It's an aerial counterattack, terrestrial counterattack, or an aquatic counterattack.
