Math identity is a student's knowledge, skills, habits, beliefs, and history of their mathematics careers.
How would you describe your own math identity? I would describe my own math identity as a good one, however it wasn't always as good as it is now.
What do you base your math identity on?  I compare my current math identity to the one I had in high school. Now, I do generally well in math if I push myself and study. In high school, I was not as determined to get as well of a grade. I had to take four years of math classes, where in my last year I had to take two math classes in the same year. Most of my peers only had to take three years. 
How easily do you think you can change your math identity? I would say changing your math identity can be easy but also based on your academic standing it could also be challenging. If you practice and study, math gets easier and I wish I knew this in high school.
How many of the 4 pillars that are discussed in the article do you recall experiencing in school? To compare my more recent math classes in college to those in high school, I feel my math professors hit all of the marks. In high school, I had a teacher who was quite the opposite from all of the pillars, she didn't really care about our success unless she felt as though you were already grasping the content. I had requested a tutoring session once, and she told me "it was too late for me to learn the lessons," when we still had weeks before the final. I was thankful to find a tutor who was able to help me. I tended to find a lot of teachers like that though, who didn't prioritize my voice if I were struggling, and that may be one reason why I didn't work as hard as I do now in school, I didn't have supportive figures giving me what I needed to succeed.
Do you think these will be aspects you will be able to incorporate into your classroom, which will be the easiest/hardest? 
Yes, these will all be aspects I will work hard at implementing into my classrooms. A math identity is how a student views themselves in regards to their relationship with math.
How would you describe your own math identity? I think my identity in math is strong. I have always enjoyed working through problems, and I honestly liked learning concepts I struggled with, because it felt good when I'd finally understand a difficult problem. I also enjoy math because I like knowing I'm able to work out a problem to get to a set answer; whereas in English it could be up for interpretation.
What do you base your math identity on? I base a lot of my math identity on how I felt when I took pre-calculus, which was the last real math course I took. I was always good at math, but pre-calc made me work a lot harder to understand and gave me a lot more challenges to work through, but in doing so I figured out I really like those challenges and how good it felt once I understood after a lot of trial and errors.
How easily do you think you can change your math identity? I think it is all about the mindset you have; if you are willing to change your mindset and come from a growth mindset, it can be very easy to change your math identity, even if you struggle with math.
How many of the 4 pillars that are discussed in the article do you recall experiencing in school? The only one I can really recall experiencing is prioritizing student voices. In high school especially we were given a lot of time for collaboration with our peers and opportunities to write our ideas on the board/share with the class. I think all my teachers believed in us, but honestly a lot of times it felt like they were more frustrated when we didn't understand than they were willing to help us work through it.
Do you think these will be aspects you will be able to incorporate into your classroom, which will be the easiest/hardest? I think it will be easy to incorporate in my future classroom as long as I am consistent with it from the beginning. I believe the easiest to maintain will be redefining mathematical success. Allowing students to feel comfortable being wrong, but still having success in the learning process of it all may be hard in the beginning, but once the kids understand it's ok to make mistakes, our classroom environment will have redefined mathematical success. The hardest I think will be is to monitor identity formation. We will have a lot of students with various math identities, and it will be difficult to monitor everyones' diverse understandings and support each of their unique needs.

Math identity is how a student feels about their math skills. Also, what their experiences have been with it.
How would you describe your own math identity?
I would describe myself as a "liker" of math. I find math to be manageable and sometimes even easy. I like it but it's not my favorite subject.
What do you base your math identity on?
I base my identity on my ability to understand it.
How easily do you think you can change your math identity?
I think my math identity is not easily changeable even if my skill level is challenged by a harder math problem. I think the confidence I've gained over the years with math would help me power through.
Think back to your own math experiences as a child, how many of the 4 pillars that are discussed in the article do you recall experiencing in school?
I feel fortunate to say I've experienced all four pillars at one point. The one that impacted my math identity the most is "know and believe in your students". Variables were a concept in math I struggled with a lot at the beginning. I guess combining numbers and letters in math didn't sit right with me. Having the support and patience of my teacher while learning this concept made a huge difference.
