This type of framing is used to allow the viewer to enter the characters intimate space, which allows certain characteristics to be revealed and and emotions that may not be noticed from a far distance. It allows the audince to connect and enghage with the perfromer on a deeper level. Pop acoustic/ contemporary folk music typically use close ups to create an emotional connection with the viewer as the lyrics tend to be quite meaningful and the facial expressions captured in close up shots help to portray the meaning.

The zoom is smooth and longer shots. It zooms in across a big ballroom, but the zoom in close shows the closeness between the two people. This creates intimacy between the character or two characters, as it is a zoom in from a long short to a medium close up. This movement shot is very common in folk music videos, as it is calm. This allows the audience to feel like part of the video. The acoustic pop/ folk music.

This type of framing shot is used in a music video to show the entire star in the frame. Thus showing us what is happening in the shot and the context with the background. Also it can show a connection between different 'characters' in the music video by where they are in relation to each other and where in the frame they are.

This pan is a tracking shot. It shows people walking with instruments. it also gives a sense of consistency, and it drives the story. This camera technique is commonly used in the folk genre as it creates a tension and adds to the story of the video.

Focusing in

The camera often changes focus from one person in the shot to another. This is very common for the folk genre as it adds a sense of mystery. The focus going from one person to the artist makes the artist feel more important in the video, and very much the focus of the video, and doing this helps the audience feel more involved with the main performer.

Wide Angle

The wide angle helps to add mystery to the video. The wide angle gives a sense of not truly know what goes on in the artists life. However this angle is also frequently used in acoustic pop/folk music videos, as it shows freedom and independence. This angle is important to the video as it shows the relief and freedom the character feels. The star is facing away from us so we cannot see his face but the angle and his body language shows the emotions of the clip and the star at that point in the music video.

The high angle create a feeling of being big and tall, looking down at others. This angle is very useful in this genre music video as it give the audience the feeling of looking down over others and feeling empowered compared to others. The high angle also can create some tension as it is a 'passing' shot. It is used to pass the narrative along, so you don't know what is going to happen after this shot.

Dutch Angle

Dutch angle is when the camera is tilted when looking at the star in the frame. This angle is helpful as it can be utilised to show that something is wrong. It very often is used in music videos to show that there is something wrong with the star, such as the star is not thinking straight so the camera is reflecting the thoughts of the star. Or the camera reflects that something is wrong with the star such as their 'world' is breaking and falling around them and the angle shows this.

Mid shot

The camera has a shot usually of people from waist up, this helps to create emotion in the music video as it shows a persons upper body reactions to different things. This is very useful in indie pop music videos as it helps convey the emotions and feelings of the star to the audience. Mid shots can also help to convey the relationship between two or more 'characters' in the music video. As to be in a mid shot the two actors have to be in relatively close proximity to each other which can often show the true relationship between each other.
