To be honest, teaching is not something that I immediately took to; growing up I always did my work and worked hard, but I did not like speaking up in class too much, it went against my temperament; so, leading a class was not a first thought, a natural calling.  But at the same time, teaching Is a natural extension for me- I deeply value and breathe through learning, books, writing, so of course I would want to share that.  I also care about the morale, progress, and experiences of students.  I actually had a very bad experience at my grad school, the University of Missouri-Columbia (more toward the end of my time there); I was sort of militated against when I asked for help (prior to #metoo...; how I was 'dealt with'- brutely- maybe would not have happened in the aftermath of the movement/blip/shift we saw); and that's one reason that I know students need proper support, across all facets, are owed that.  The ethics and psychology of teaching matter a lot to me, so I'm grateful for this course.
