My first day in Taiwan

My first day on the great island of Taiwan. In the city of Taipei, the bustling crowded streets of the city. As look around to see the lights and buildings, I look down at the instructions where my apartment is located. On the paper was a unfamiliar language. I instantly whipped out my translator app that said my room number was "一百一十二" which is 112 on floor "四" that is 4 and also telling me where to go. Walking down the hallway very tired and slumped over. Looking at apartment 124, I turn around and walk backwards and soon find my door. I sliped in the stubborn key into the door and it opens. I walked in exhausted of my adventurous day, yet weary. I lay on the bed and slowly drifted to sleep.

I woke up in early afternoon shivering. Realizing that it was still January I checked the weather. 61 degrees fahrenheit! I needed to turn on the air conditioner. I put heat on quickly and started it up.--- I walked down the street to what seem like a cafe. I see many people sitting down and laughing. I walk in and many people stare up at me for a few seconds then looked backed down. I went to the counter and they said something. Thankfully my translator app was very useful and I managed to buy a mocha. While sitting down I looked up the Taiwan language and learned it was Standard Mandarin. I met a few people that spoke English and decided to talk with them. They told me places to see such as the Taipei 101 or the Taiwan Confucian Temple. I thanked them for the recommendation. I decided to go get a few groceries at what looked what liked a night market. It was a narrow alley sort of thing with meat and vegetable and foods in baskets and containers. It was awesome it was one of the coolest places I've seen. I got rice and vegetables and went home and decided to look up locations to go.

Going to a historical site

For lunch today before I went for beef noodle which tasted fine. I researched online a bit before coming to Taiwan and decided to go early to Taiwan Confucian Temple.
It was located on the very south of Taiwan, far from Taipei. It took quite a few hours. There I saw all kinds of historical things. Such as I saw the actual temple itself. The Temple was dedicated to Confucius and his teaching. I learned that it was built during the Koxinga rule and the temple served as Taiwan's first school. It was pretty old considering it was built around 400 years ago. As I was on the return trip to Taipei, I noticed that the landscape is very mountainous. I soon figured out that Taiwan is 80% mountainous and people can only live in 20% of Taiwan. I was getting to bed when I realized how loud Taiwan is. It was very loud outside, mainly beeping and distinct shouting, but still very loud. I shoved my pillow above to drown out the noise.

Taiwan is located in Asia and is 81 miles from China's south-east point.
2.The Executive Branch President is 'Tsai Ing-Wen and the President of Taiwan is the same person.
3. Taiwan's flag looks like from my perspective has a red rectangular background with a large blue box in the top right corner and a white sun-like shape inside the blue box.
4. Interesting Fact: Taiwan is 80% mountainous which forces people to cluster together.

Walking in Taipei

I was walking in the lobby by the time my grogginess finally worn off. I walked down to buy some fruits and get my self a meal. The man on the counter asked for 121 New Taiwan Dollars. I reached into my wallet casually and then realize I used up all my money. I said sorry to the man and pitied myself for forgetting about getting more cash. I had to travel back near the air port. Although I had no money for cabs, the walking distance was only a couple of hours off. There was very many people crowding the streets which made me even slower. People were entering stores, being a tourist, or just walking around. I got to the money exchange center and gave 300 dollars and got 9122 New Taiwan Dollars. 10 dollars was 304 NTD. 50 dollars was 1520 NTD and 100 dollars was 3040 NTD. I got a cab and went to my room. The time was dark and cold by the time I got back so I went to bed.

Going To Taipei 101

I woke up and looked out the window to see the Taipei 101. I had a distant but clear view of it. I decided I would go there for the day. Once in the cab, I saw the Taipei looming closer, or rather me getting closer. As I neared the building, the streets got more crowded. I saw the base filled with people and then I was off the cab looking at the base of the building. It looked to be a mall. A English flyer had info on 101 so I read first floor being the mall. It also included restaurants observatory floors on 91 to 89 and cafes. Itn was also a one time tallest building in the world. I entered the building to see the mall, many people with shopping bags or walking around. I saw the way up got on it and went to the observatory floors. What I saw was incredible. There was the ocean and mountains and the city of course. I stood there moving from position to position for about half an hour. Then I went to a restaurant to eat. I didn't know what to get so i got rice and veggies. What I've noticed about Taiwan is that since Taiwan has very limited land, it cant really build out, mainly upwards towards the sky.

I was out in a cab leaving Taipei. I got to the airport and waited endless hours for my flight. My flight arrived and I entered. As I was flying I thought about Taiwan and its beautiful sights. I was high in the sky most building were a blur. But the Taipei 101 stood out a little. I saw the ocean and their ports and ships moving. I was far from Taiwan then, but the mountains stood out greatly.
