PICOT Questions: In adult patients with chronic pain in hospital settings(P), how does implementation of comprehensive pain assessment training and personalized pain management training (I) compared to standard pain management methods without specialized nurse training (C) affect the effectiveness of pain assessment methods, pain management and patient satisfaction (O) over 6 months following implementation (T)?

The "American Journal of Nursing" appeals to a broad

readership of nursing professionals, including nurses,

educators, researchers, and students. Given that the

manuscript examines the safety of oral intake during

labor, it aligns with the journal's key focus on evidence-

based practice, patient safety, clinical research, and ultimately control pain during labor with simply allowing mom to eat, be comfortable, and in less pain.

This study’s findings are specifically important for

professional obstetric nurses, midwives, and other

healthcare professionals providing mental care, making

the AJN a valuable platform for dissemination. Publishing

an AJN would ensure the research reaches a broad range

of audiences of healthcare providers who benefit from

the insights and implications of the study.

The "American Journal of Nursing article, An Investigation into the Safety of Oral Intake During Labor", concludes that allowing women to eat and drink as they want during labor does not increase adverse outcomes for the mother or baby. The article also suggests that allowing oral intake may increase patient satisfaction and reduce pain during labor. 

Research from the United States, Australia, and Europe suggests that oral intake during labor may be beneficial and lead to less painful and potential of complicated births. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) recommend that women eat and drink during labor. However, the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and the ACOG continue to recommend that low-risk women only consume clear fluids. 

Some hospitals have a "Nothing by Mouth" policy to ensure that laboring people have an empty stomach in case they need emergency surgery that requires general anesthesia. However, not eating for long periods of time can cause hypoglycemia, which can be harmful for both the mother and baby.

platform to reach an audience that values evidence-

based improvements in healthcare practices, particularly

in the context of managing chronic pain.

The ASPMN (American Society for Pain Management Nursing) Journal is aimed at pain management nursing professionals exclusively, thereby ensuring my work's visibility to a highly specialized audience that is significantly involved in pain management. This alignment is critical for research, as it points directly towards improvements in the evaluation and management of pain, which are essential aspects of the interests and professional practice of the target audience of readers. The involvement of this particular community would significantly enhance the outcome of one's findings, not only in terms of clinical practice but also in policy-making in the specialized field of pain management nursing.

The ASPMN journal recognizes the importance of clinical practice and theoretical developments in pain management nursing and endeavors thus to share the research findings that support evidence-based treatments. My study on the implementation and effects of instructional pain evaluation and management aligns with the journal's objective. Thus, publishing with this journal allows me to present the findings that support the journal's aim of highlighting the influential role of pain management practices, which will contribute to a broader understanding and implementation of improved pain control protocols in various medical settings.

Based on my research design, adherence to specific reporting guidelines such as the CONSORT for experimental studies groups, TREND for quasi-experimental research, and STROBE for observational research might be challenging. These directions imply that my work needs to contain very precise and accurate information regarding the study's methodology, conduct, and analysis, which requires a higher level of skill during my manuscript preparation. When any condition provided in the guidelines is not met, it would be very taxing to the implementers, who need to ensure adherence to best practice standards in reporting.

2. Structured Abstract and Inclusion of Essential Elements

The journal requires a structured abstract that holds major portions like purpose, design, methods, results, and conclusions. This is challenging as I have to extract the most important parts of detailed and complex research, reducing it to a few sentences and avoid losing the essence of my research. Additionally, it is necessary to explore the abstract and ensure it contains all required details in accordance with the journal requirements without exceeding the word limits.
