the definition of cloning or clone is a cell, cell product, or organism that is genetically identical to the unit or individual from which it was derived. cloning is done by taking a gene out of a DNA strand then it is attached to something called a plasmid which is then placed into an ecoli cell where it divides and each new cell contains a copy of the plasmid.
