the giga a due owes is name to the peculiarity of being perfomed by a knight and two ladies.
it is a dance with a fixed choreography, with small local variant but substantially know with the same pattern throughout the territory of the four provinces.
it's a dance on request; once, when the dances were paid, a dencer asked the player a giga  and the dance was his, that is, he did it with the women he had invited and all those present remaided to watch them.
the aim was to show of their skills and show the beautiful girls who consented to the dance. if they were no asked gighe the evening passed with out the players playing it.
today where everyone wants to the dance eveything, and where the importance of the community is diminished we witnes the execution of gighe where trio of columns dancers fill the whole room.
