I would like to head these initiatives and bring gender in all its facets to the forefront through activities such as workshops and events led by both Nudgesters and external partners, while encouraging learning and development among Nudgesters. I would also focus on increasing participation in these events and ensuring continued learning throughout the year by designing these sessions to be engaging, inclusive and informative.

Firstly, having grown up with a twin sister, I experienced first-hand the gender privileges that I enjoyed by simply being a man in a traditional Gujarati family. I regret not speaking the truth to power in my own family. Ever since I became cognisant of these, I have wanted to do my bit to equalise this gender divide in my capacity.

Secondly, the product team for EUP is growing and is currently all-male. “I guess the girls must be up in the greenroom,” I said without thinking, a bit stressed by the squash of humans around us.

“Are all dancers girls?” - my daughter asked

I felt time stop for a moment. Despite constantly attempting to champion gender equality in my everyday life as a single mum & a professional, I had used blatantly gender-biased language. And this was just one tiny exchange between a parent and child. If it was so easy for me to make a misstep, what effect might an unconscious bias happen at any workplace as well. I have always been someone who has since then strived to bring this change in both personal & professional capacities till date.

The entire purpose of doing something with women gets defeated if we (society) takes away the power to decide. Knowing very well that it will not come in a day, I feel steps need to be taken each day around it. I wish to be able to think more, express views more crisply, with data and be able to lesser the existing gap in whatever way possible.
