If you had siblings of the opposite sex, did you notice different child-rearing practices being followed? What were some of those differences?

My biological parents are immigrants from Southeast Asia and so my bio father always favored my younger brothers over me because even though I was the oldest, the oldest male is the important in the family. He would often take my brothers to football games and stuff like that while I stayed home to read or help my grandma make dinner. Besides that my bio family is very traditional since they are from an Asian and so our bios raised me and my brothers to fit those gender norms.

Was competition or cooperation stressed?

My bios raised me and my brothers to be competitive. Almost everything was a contest.
My parents when they took us in tried to gear us to being more cooperative because we all might have been a little too competitive. They tried to teach us more about playing nice and working together to mutually achieve goals instead of just being the best.

How were you punished?

My parents punished us by taking away something we valued or wanted so it was different for each kid. I would usually get that I wasn't allowed to hang out with my friends. My brothers got similar things from phones, videogames, going outside or not being allowed to go to the gym. We would also usually have to do more chores so that we can learn to be more respectful and productive.

Why do you think families in one form or another are found in every culture? And why do you think there are so many different forms of families?

I think that the reason families are always formed is because humans are first of all just pack animals we like to be in groups. We also have an extremally long adolescent stage before reaching maturity/adulthood compared to any other animal so we need to have people who can take care of the young, thus forming families.

I think that there are so many different kinds of families because humans are just so diverse and there are so many different cultures. I think a lot of timesit depends on what that culture values. In a culture that values independence we'd prolly see more of the nuclear family unit. Whereas in a culture that values community we'd see of more of a community based childrearing
