This poem connects us to family, friends, pets, and communities. This statement true because it shows the two kinds of bonds, professional and friendly, and shows the definition of bonds. Without bonds in our life, we would not be anywhere near as advanced as we are in society, parents would not be together, babies would be left to defend themselves, and you would sit alone at lunch every day. No matter how small the bond is bonds are important.

This poem connects us to family, friends, pets, and communities. This statement is true because it consists of all the traits you need to decide whether a bond should be professional or friendly. You may run into this situation at a job or in a place where there are people with higher authority. If you were ever, in this case, choose to be an active listener and make good decisions. An active listener means to listen to them and comprehend what they are saying. For example, you are in a private property and the owner tells you to leave. Your best option is to make a good decision and leave the property.

The Prisoner Who Wore Glasses connects to special bonds that link us to family, friends, and communities because Brille links the warders and Span One as a family. In the beginning of the story, the warder of Span One had quit because he could not take the behavior of the criminal towards him. The criminals in Span One would share and trade good among them, similar to a large family. The new warder, Hannetjie, wanted to be the head honcho and contain these political prisoners in Span One. Hannetjie had sworn at them and had beaten them until one day. Brille came back to the camp with four ounces of tobacco. He said that “ I saw Hannetjie in the shed today,” and the failing eyesight blinked rapidly. “I caught him in the act of stealing five bags of fertilizer and he bribed me to keep his mouth shut.” (Bessie Head, 124-126) Brille goes on as a witness to stealing the fertilizer and gets Hannetjie fined a large sum of money. Brille goes on to steal fertilizer for Hannetjie in trade for tobacco and other goods. Span One and Hannetjie then work in a team to get good that they want, Hannetjie the fertilizer and Span One the tobacco.

Monkey See, Monkey Do, Monkey Connect connects to special bonds that link us to family, friends, pets, and communities when Frans de Waal shows through his research what people and animals do to fit into a certain group or leader. This consists of laughing when other people laugh, yawning when other yawns, and crying when others cry. He states that “Instead of typical slurping with her lips from the surface, she’d dip her entire underarm in the water, then lick the hair on her arm. Her children started doing the same, and then her grandchildren. The entire family was easy to recognize.” (Frans de Waal, 156-160) Fran states that the younger chimpanzees take after their mother and drink water from the hair on their arms. This bond is a family bond because drinking from the hair on their arms is unique to their family of chimpanzees.

The Grasshopper and the Bell Cricket connects to special bonds that link us to family, friends, and communities when Fujio had given Kiyoko the bell cricket. In the beginning of the story on student had heard bell cricket by their school house and had went out in the night to find this wild bell cricket. Night after night more and more students came to the schoolhouse to find the bell cricket. Every night the school children’s lanterns got creative; having their names on their lantern along with their favorite colors. One night Fujio called out “Does anyone want a grasshopper?” … “Does anyone want a grasshopper? A grasshopper!”... The boy called out a third time “Doesn’t anyone want a grasshopper?” (Yasunari Kawabata ,58-67) After calling for the third time a girl name Kiyoko had come to Fujio and asked for the grasshopper. The name ‘Kiyoko” on Fujio’s waist from the lantern and “Fujio” on Kiyoko’s waist. Fujio had given Kiyoko the “grasshopper” which turned out to be the bell cricket. The bell cricket represents a special bond together such as a special boyfriend or girlfriend or a special husband or wife.

My dog, Bella, that shows a visual representation of special bonds that link us to family, friends, pets, and communities because she and I are brother and sister. Along with being brother and sister we shared multiple of the same traits. The first of these qualities are being lazy and laying around all day. Bella has an easy life, lays around the house all day, sleeps, eats, and eats some more. Similar to Bella every weekend I lay around and do absolutely nothing besides watch tv and pet Bella. The second of these qualities are that we both beg for food. Bella is a “big boned” dog. She loves to eat her dog food and will be your best friend if you give her a small amount of table scraps. Similar to Bella I always beg for food. I always have to lose weight wrestling and beg my friends for the corner of their pop tart or a few skittles to satisfy my craving for sweets. The final quality that Bella and I share is we both are very curious. Bella will always find the crack of the door that is barely open, rams her head into the crack of the door, and get into the room your in. She always does this when I am in my room studying or when I am sleeping. Similar to Bella, I am always looking further into topics that make me think. I find myself doing this a lot when I find interest topics on the news or things my friends tell me.

My brother, Noah, shows a visual representation of a special bond that links us the family, friends, pets, and communities because we are brothers. The bond between us to strong. We do everything together. Some of these things consist of going hunting, fishing, and playing sports. In this picture my brother and I just got done with mass at the church we go to. We often take a lot of pictures together to remember the good times we have had together. This particular day in church Noah had been confirmed into our church. He kept peering back at the section our family had been sitting in and kept smiling.

I chose this link because this bond between the lions and the man are not an everyday thing. These lions are known for their aggression and their ability to kill prey. The fact that these lions choose not to attack this man is a unique bond. This man has raised these lions cubs since they were very young to they consider him their father figure. It is extraordinary to see these full grow lions play around with this man like he was also a lion.
