Niels was a scientist who made fundamental contributions to understanding the structure of atoms. In particular he developed the Bohr model of the atom, then later on the liquid drop model. He was recognized as one of the most influential physicists of the 20th century. Bohr's greatest discovery was the atomic model, Bohr's model shows the atom as a positively charged nucleus surrounded by orbiting electrons. He also discovered that electrons travel around the nucleus in distinct, concentric orbits.
