Still think theyre misleading people, theyre trying to be ethical and sustainable with this collection but theyre not that as an overalll company.
There is so many loopholes in what they do and i dont think join life reflects Zara as a brand. Theyre one of the biggest fast fashion brands, that produce huge amounts of stock and waste through exploitation, so i dont really think they care about being sustainable - and their join life collection is more of a way for the brand to look like they care, rather than actually making an effort for a change towards sustainability. I think its more to try and shut people up about the fact that they do produce this stock under these circumstances.
These collections are always fairly small, and the only way you know a garment is part of the collection is through an extra tag on the garment, it is vaugely promoted in store and tbh i dont think customers even know what the collection is. If they can make the effort to produce some garments with recycled fibres and 'the best sustainable raw materials' then why cant they do that with all their stock? Is that too much work or a large corporation with a huge following? Possibly, but thats a shame as they could really make an impact (as they did with the fast fashion movement). Also, itd be difficult to make their large amount of stock 'sustainability', and then theyd also have to consider other factors - like is the shipment method also sustainable? (No, as there are drivers than come from spain twice a week with new stock etc etc). And then that just makes it difficult for a huge corporation to change their already exisiting (working) methods of production. So profit is always going to come out on top rather than environmental consideration.

Theres too much bad shit they do behind the scenes that customers dont see, for me to be able to justify that they actually care about the ethos behind this idea and collection, and frankly i dont and dont think i will ever believe they are genuine about Join Life.
I think sustainability is just being used as another marketing ploy, rather than something to create a better, surviving planet for all. Shame

#boycottjoinlife

I feel there are some really strong pieces in he collection, however I wouldn’t necessarily know it was a sustainable collection. I feel there should be more promotion surrounding the collection, showcasing the collection more prominently and the message behind it. I feel it changes the perception of sustainable fashion as it is styled the same as other collections on the Zara website, showing how wearable sustainably clothing is, in contrast to the maybe current perception of sustainable fashion and how sustainable clothing can be styled in a more cool and wearable way. So many people currently buy into Zara and they are one of the most popular fast fashion high street brands so seeing they are getting on board with the whole sustainable fashion trend and trying to change and improve their brand message by doing better by the environment.

Interesting concept, however I do think that if they can 'sustainably' make a range of clothes, why can they not apply this to all of their products? If anything they have just highlighted the fact that they do no produce sustainably and ethically normally and have done so purely for this collection. This makes me think they are just simply jumping on the bandwagon of being conscious and that they do not actually care for their impact on the environment as a company

I think it is great such a powerful brand are making the conscious effort to consider ethical issues. The collection offers a wide range of pieces however unless I was aware of the campaign I would presume they were the same as the rest of their items as I haven't seen much regarding the campaign even in their stores.
