In the original, the author speaks about 2 stories at once, with one being the mother talking to the author, and the other being about a pendant made of jade between Zhu and Liang. However, our interpretation revolved around piecing the puzzle together with logic, which in turn creates a different story but with a similar kind of meaning/feel to it. Our improvisation also alternated less frequently between the short and main story.

We had a different streamline of logic. It would be challenging to make it match up, because the blocks of proses and poem seemed pretty isolated, both structurally and logically. It made sense after reading hers, but it was hard to see the big pictures when we were trying to put it together ourselves. We made it alternating between short poem and prose, while Sarah Howe's version seems more random.

It was challenging to match up the blocks because we are not familiar with Sara's work and the blocks did not seem to have an obvious structure. After reading her full poem, it made sense but it was still slightly muddled and in some areas, it seemed like she was going off on a tangent and some parts seem relatively random.

Setting - Set in a dark, gross place (very unhygienic). There are cockroaches and algae and rust and faeces. It is disgusting. It is set in a school and the school is described with dark imagery.

Character and Action - The character washes her hair with green detergent. This suggests that poverty is imminent within the environment she is exploring.

Style - The style of text that she displays throughout this poem in paragraph 3, she utilises extensive vocabulary to describe the imagery, fully sculpting the idea she would like the audience members to understand with adjectives. For this section of the poem, they have devised this into a range of sentences, being indifferent to the structure of the entire poem. Additionally, figurative examples such as metaphors are used to describe the given imagery thus painting a visual for us with connection to the use of the five sense.

Ideas - Paranoia, disgust, hyperboles, smilies, exaggeration.

A night dead television set shows that there is not more entertainment; a sense of loneliness and emptiness is present. The autumn storm mentioned also indicates that the narrator is trapped indoors. Finally, the mention of wrought bars could be a metaphor for bars in a prison cell. Further emphasising the trapped feeling. ~ Jade w
