"Tyrants! know that the rights of man are inherent and unalienable, and therefore, not to be forfeited by the failure of any form of government, however democratic."
Here William Lloyd Garrison expresses that all men have rights that cannot be violated and should not be given up even if the whites of the government wish it.
What some abolitionists say take aim at the government of the US saying that though the US is a democracy they should still not be able to decide on the matter of a mans freedom and enslavement should never be justified by desires.

"The rich inheritance of justice, liberty, prosperity and independence, bequeathed by your fathers, is shared by you, not by me."
In this quote Fredrick Douglass says that all the whites share a right of freedom from their father but, he as a black man does not share this and freedom is not inherited.
This shows that some slaves justified being the wrongs of slavery by saying that all men at birth receive a set of rights that do not allow them to be enslave under any circumstance.

"Thus, do we put the slave’s case far away from us, forgetting that he is a human being like ourselves, forgetting that we ourselves are bound up with the slave-holder, in his guilt, forgetting that we of the North stand pledged to the support of the Federal Government"
In this quote Susan B. Anthony explains that though the people of the time period tried to distance themselves they can't because the slaves like themselves are humans and also they hold the guilt for their enslavement because they have not stopped the slave holders from having slaves.
The causes of slavery opposition are shown here where the write relates the reader to the slaves that are forced to work the fields it also makes them hold the blame of slavery making the reader realize that doing nothing is as bad as taking part.
