In the Seventeenth century melee weapons and bows became irrelevant because. Archers took a long time to train. The melee weapons were useless because guns could kill you at a long range. So everyone who used knights stopped and started making guns and training them to use the guns. What they turned to included the flintlock musket, artillery, and the matchlock. The matchlock was a big gun the was made in the 1500s and had a by pod its trigger was a lever. The flint lock was a smaller lighter version of the matchlock. Matchlock Musket (Arquebus) - English Civil War -17th Century

In the seventeenth century the need for knights started to decay around 1650. because guns were developing rapidly and their armor couldn't stop the bullets. So in turn their armor was reduced to a cuirasses and they got rid of the horse. At the beiging of the century they still used the same equipment like helms cuirasses, gauntlets, and solloerets. https://www.by-the-sword.com
