         <description><![CDATA[<div>Axiety disorders:<br>-Somatoform Disorder- physical symptoms with no physical cause<br>-Hypochondriasis- you think you hsve a disease or sickness<br>- Conversion hysteria- have it with no cause<br>-OCD Cycle- obsessions--anxiety--compulsions---relief--repeat<br><br>Neurosis and Psychosis: <br>Neurosis- emotional disturbance but you can still function<br>Psychosis- emotional disturbance but you cannot cope in real world<br><br>Eating Disorders:<br>- Anorexia- excessive desire to not eat, low calorie intake, excessive exercise <br>- Bulimia- purging after eating a lot of food<br>- Binge eating- reoccurring episodes of eating large amounts of food and feeling shame during or after, feeling disgust with oneself, occurs at least once a week for three months<br><br>Anxiety disorders:<br>Rapid breathing, perspiration, shaking, passing out<br><br>Phobias:<br>Irrational itense fear of something, interferes with normal life<br>-Specific Phobia<br>-Social Phobia<br><br>Panic Disorder:<br>-Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)<br>-Obsessions (thoughts)<br>-Compulsion (actions)<br><br>Mood Disorders:<br>Depression <br>- Major depressive disorder- intense sadness months- forever<br>- Dysthymia- less intense sadness for 2 or more years<br>- Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)- Depression that occurs at certain times of the year with less sunlight<br>-Bipolar Disorder/ manic disorder- involves both depressed and manic epidsodes</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Personality Disorders: Inflexible, exaggerated, and maladaptive ways of thinking, consistant in EVERY setting and situatikon<br><br>Cluster A: a person seem odd or eccentic<br>Schizoid personality- socially withdrawn, lacks feelings for others<br>Schizotyoucal Personality Disorder- Odd thought<br>Paranoid Personality Disorder- innapropriateley suspicious and mistrustful of others<br><br>Cluster B: person seems dramatic, emotional, or erratic<br>Borderline Personality Disorder- act impulsively, self destructive, unstable mood, mostly women<br>Antisocial Personality- violent, criminal, or unethical behavior, feels no effection for others, no remorse for actions<br>Narcissistic Personality Disorder- Grandiose view of themsekves, contant attention and admiration<br>Histrionic Personality Disorder- Very dramatic, attention seeking, needs praise and reasurance<br><br>Cluster C: anxious and fearful&nbsp;<br>Dependent personality- doesnt like being alone at all, can't live independently<br>Avoidant Personality Disorder- fear of rejection, leads to isolation<br>Osessive- Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD)- needs orderliness, personal control, rules, schedules, perfectionism<br>Social Communication Disorder- Unable to adjust voice level, difficulty responding to people, using words, keeping friends<br><br>Treating Personality Disorders:<br>Counter conditioning- taking an unpleasant conditioned response and replacing it with a good one<br>Systematic Desensitization- relaxing, slowly facing fears<br>In Vivo Densitization- confronting fear right away<br>Implosive therapy- Imagine the worst&nbsp;<br>Aversive Conditioning- pair a habit with an unpleasant stimulus<br><br>Drugs and Physical therapy:<br>Barbituates<br>relaxing<br>massages<br><br>Illogical thinking (depression)<br>&nbsp;Arbitrary Interference- even if it is not true they feel like the worst person in the world for example<br>Selective Abstraction- they blame themself even if it wasnt their fault<br>Overgeneralization- Making a conclusion abou themself because of a single event<br>Magnification and Minimization- Focusing only on the negative things and disregarding the positive things<br><br>Treating depression<br>Biological perspective<br>Antidepressant medication<br><br>Lithium for bipolar<br>Electroconversion therapy (ECT)- shock treatment, induces seizures, alters brain chemisry<br>Psychodynamic Perspective- talking to someone&nbsp;<br>Client centered approach- Humanism- Carl Rogers, lead the patient to help themself<br>&nbsp;<br>Behaviorist persopective- operant conditioning, based on rewards<br><br>Cognitive perspective- Aaron Beck- cognitive traid, learned helpless ness<br><br>Rational emotive therapy- albert ellis, direct approach, persuasion, challenge argument<br>Sociocultural, change environment<br><br>Treating Dissociative disorders<br>Thorazine, Haldol, block receptors for dopamine<br><br>Eclective therapy- all perspectives joined together<br><br>-10% children suffer from mental illness, 25% of adults suffer from mental illness<br><br></div>]]></description>
