St Peter Julian Eymard love to adore the blessed Sacrament.
Adoration is an ancient tradition of the Church. As Catholics we believe that at the consecration during the Mass, the bread and wine cease to exist and in their place are the body and blood, soul and divinity of Jesus. This is the Eucharist. The Eucharist is not simply a symbol or a sign of Jesus - Jesus is really present under the appearance of bread and wine. At Mass we can be in communion with Jesus in the Eucharist. Outside of Mass, we can visit Jesus (who is present in the Eucharist). When we pray to Jesus who is before us in the Eucharist, we are adoring him. This is what adoration is.
