         <description><![CDATA[<div>Children were more nimble, and had smaller hands. They could perform tasks that would otherwise be harder for adults. Children were also hired because it was cheaper. They could be paid lower wages because they lack in terms of having a voice and unionizing.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Children got up as early as 5 AM and worked for 12 - 13 hours 6 days a week. The factories they worked in were dirty and oily because certain machines needed to be greased. They would only get one 30 minute break in the noon for lunch, for the whole day.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Children often didn't have a choice when working in factories. They were forced to because their families needed that extra income the children would earn. Some families lived off of their children's income, and many parents advocated for child labor.</div>]]></description>

He took pictures in factories undercover in order to find evidence for the National Child Labor Committee. There were people at the time that didn't believe child labor was a problem, yet alone existed.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>From 1902-1905 was the time period in which people really began to commit to end child labor. It wasn't until the Great Depression when real change began to happen.  With so many adults in need for jobs, people wanted to end child labor to ensure jobs for adults. Lawmakers drafted the laws, which then limited work hours for younger people and improved working conditions.</div>]]></description>
