From the bottom up, it starts with producers, who are able to produce their own food from energy that they have gathered. Next, come the herbivores, who eat no meat and only things like plants. After that, come the carnivores, who eat only meat. Secondary carnivores come next, and these are the animals who eat the primary consumers. Lastly, on the top, come the apes/predators.

Food Chains follow a single path as animals eat eachother. As seen below, this food chain starts with the producer, which would be the grass, then the grass goes to the grasshopper which is the primary consumer, primary consumers are the organisms that eat the producers (plants). Next, the grasshopper is eaten by the frog which is a secondary consumer, secondary consumers are the organisms that eat the primary consumers. Lastly, the frog is eaten by the python, which is a Tertiary consumer. Tertiary consumers are the organisms that are at the topmost level in a food chain. They feed on secondary consumers.

A food web shows how plants and animals are connected by many different paths. This food web shows a bunch of different paths of life. An example would be the corn, which is a producer, being eaten by the grasshopper, which is a primary consumer, then the grasshopper is eaten by the rat, which is the secondary consumer, then the rat being eaten by the python which is the tertiary consumer (the organism at the top of a food chain). There are many other paths in this food web that all connect
