Despite facing resistance and rejection by the people of Taif, he never wished them ill.  His patience bore him fruit since, despite the residents' reluctance to listen to his message, his suffering caused him to win true followers such as the Christian slave Addas who embraced Islam.


- The prophet PBUH response to the cruelty and stubbornness of the residents of Taif was mercy and forgiveness. This is a lesson for Muslims of today to have control over their temperament and be forgiving. He did not allow hatred to take root in his heart. On the contrary during his conversation with angel Jibreel, he had the option of wishing destruction upon the residents of Taif but he hoped for their progeny's conversion to Islam.

-By visiting Taif, Prophet PBUH was steadfast and attempted to find a realistic solution to his difficulties in Mecca. We also learn that when we face difficulties and distress, Allah does not abandon his people as seen that Allah responds to the dua of the prophet PBUH.
