in this clip we had a look at each clip at what was the best one to edit together on the time crunch we had, and we decided to do the first clip, as the costumes for that one was a high level one as well as the directing and editing.

evaluation challanges

the challenges faced through the rehearsal process was the costumes not being sorted or not being able to find them, or the script not being done on time. the way we over come this, is putting our heads together and discussing what we could substitute some of the costumes for, and what people have at home to bring in that would've been able to be used. we also had to make some of the costume e.g the Davy Jones beard which peter made. we overcame not being able to record everything by just recording the bigger scenes and attempting to try and match them up to make sense which then we decided to do the one scene and practice with the different camera angles we could have, and edit that one scene.

initial aims

the initial aim in our pitch was to do at least the jar of dirt scene. once we set of to start doing that we thought to do more scenes to make it longer and we never got around to doing that scene. we decided to do more scenes as it meant more costume, more directing, and more camera operating and editing, and it would be beneficial for us all, to explore our job roles a lot more for multiple scenes than just the one scene. we discussed using the original script, but with a few changes and we ended up changing a lot of it, and pulling scenes out. the original idea to do pirates of the Caribbean stayed the same.

chosen role: camera operator and editor

i feel like my role was better suited for me, as i had previous camera skills that i could use for this project and to take advantage of the camera and picking up newer skills. the film editor, i didn't know anything on it, so i had to learn everything from a completely new prospective, this meaning i can learn about the green screen and the different editing. the start of the project when we gave roles out and discussed each role other roles, i decided that i wanted to give myself the challenge of being the editor and the camera operator. the positive impact that my roles have on this project is that, we could film something and be able to move around with the camera, and my editing role, gave us the advantage to put the clips together with a background on it, this was also helpful as i was willing to learn how to take the green screen of and learn how to put the different transitions in and the best way to edit movies together and the pros and cons of each available app.

communication

our group needed to work on the communication, as we had one time where no one was responding in the group chats to days were coming in and days we weren't, this wasn't helpful as the scenes where people were coming in early to set up the green screen room, they didn't follow through with that idea. we spoke about bringing through the costumes to figure out who could be what character and they were forgotten or didn't read the group chat reminders. when we work together in person the communication of what needed to be done on that day was spoken about and it was done there and then, we did get pushed off the rehearsal schedeual a few time but made it back up onto it

strengths and weaknesses

to make improvements withing our rehearsals, we could have reheared the script properly before going up to film, this could've helped up with blocking camera angles, and less retakes. we could've also started our process a lot earlier with costume sourcing, props and booking our rooms out a lot earlier to give us that deadline

the skills that i developed during this project, is the teamwork and knowledge with who i work well with and who i don't work well with. i also developed the basic knowledge on being able to edit clips together, working on a new soft-wear. learning what each of the buttons do and what they mean.

i also worked on my communication and getting my point across (as shown in the voice notes in production meetings)

in unit H 21&22 i'm going to work in a complete different group, that i haven't working with before to be able to get the grades that i want. this then will help me to further my skills and develop them further as well as using my knowledge of camera operator and editing basic knowledge.

we first thought to do just this scene but thought it would've been too short so we decided to look at other clips that we could work on as well, that involved more costumes, aswell as camera editing and directing.

looked at doing this scene, and multi layering the clips up, learing to film this kinda of thing, and how to edit them together on top of each other and how to make it work with the green screen. this was a learning curve.
