Some times the pupils themselves have interesting things to share. After listening I would normally ask them what do they learn about in the story. Things like what do the main character do and if you r the main character, would you have done the same thing as the main character did or would you do something different and why?

However, I believe that we also need to be flexible and try new methods in Sinda as Sinda is not compulsory for the kids. They can decide not to come. So, what is the pull factor in class? 

For my current p6 class which I am following up from last year, they are a group who are excited by simple sweets, which I now give out at the end of the day as form of reward for their attendance n behaviour during class. Simple mentoes, lollipops, etc. 

They are also very inquisitive. As such, class discussions sometimes might go beyond what is taught in school or the rich discussions might take longer than planned. It is very important not to stop them from asking and discussing. Let them explore n be curious. That’s the joy of learning for them. It’s our responsibility to facilitate their discussions and to ensure that they still learn what is required while still exploring beyond the topic. 

Thirdly, it’s the use of resources at the appropriate times. There has to be a balance. For my class, I get them to write given a topic early in the morning when they are still fresh. Then at certain points of the lesson when I know it might a bit draggy, I employ videos, class discussions, games to get their energy level up again before going to worksheets and writing.
