Week 1: Analysis of Padlet

what the tool does: create padlets, organize your ideas (in an aesthetic way), work with other, share documents, create discussion board

its cost: can go from a free subscription, to a monthly subscription of 6,99€, 9,99€, 14,99€, to an annual subscription of 199€ for a class and 1,000€ for an entire school.
its interface language(s): 41 languages proposed such as French, English (UK & US), Spanish, Arabic, etc.
how a teacher can use it to prepare class: the teacher can create different padlets for each class; can categorize their documents, links, etc.
how a teacher can use it with students: the teacher can ask a question and the students can answer; students can post their homework on it.
how easy it is to use: it is quite easy to use, but I didn't use it a lot to know if it it is worth it.
its physical appearance/esthetics: it propose a variety of padlets

Task for week 2: Framapad & QR code

I created the collaborative tool Framapad and wrote about it, the advantages (easy, free, no need to save...) and disadvantages (can change what other did, can get silly with it, can be deleted if you don't save it). You can choose how long you want your Framapad to be saved, mine is saved for six months.

In class, I could use it with students to share with each other for group project for example.

Then I copied the link of my Framapad and created a QR code using QR Code Generator.

Task for Week 3: Comics & Cartoons

To create my image I used Storyboard That. It is easy to use with many choices of decor, characters, items, etc. You can also edit the characters as you like. and it's FREe!!! However many choices aren't free, which limits our possibilities.

I could use Storyboard That as a teacher to illustrate events, a scene, or grammar in a funny way which students may like better and be more into it. I could also ask them to use it for a homework (poster, scene, etc.)

Task for Week 3: AudioLingua

I used 123 Apps to slightly modify the audio. I cut the beginning as it started to late. then change the volume because the sound was too loud.

I used PicsArt to generate an image of "a cat wearing a skirt". Then I used Remove.bg to remove the background so I could keep the cat.

Being able to generate and edit images have its advantages such as the unlimited possibility of creation. PicsArt doesn't have a restricted number of possibility to generate an image, unlike Canva. And it's free.

I couldn't find any disadvantages with these websites.

Week 6 Task 1: Visualisation of data

I used Lucidspark to create this mindmap. I think it is easy to use and it would be a great think to use as a teacher or with students.

Week 6 Task 2: Fake social media posts

I used the software Zeoob to create a fake instagram post. I would use it as an “anticipation” for a course on Fictions and Realities based on aliens and fake news.

Task for Week 7: Manipulating Videos

I used the software iMovie from my computer. I downloaded a video of the timer and a the sound of a video of the sound of explosion, both from Youtube using the extension Easy Youtube Video Downloader. Then I uploaded them on iMovie and put everything together by cutting the video to 30 seconds and positioning the audio under. I added an image that I found directly in the software and added another sound at the end, also from iMovie. I added the text in the end with the software.

The video could be used during an escape game that I planned on doing with the Seconde about Saving the Planet.

In my opinion, iMovie is easy to use (I've been using it for years now whenever I need to edit a vide), there is a lot of choice regarding the background, sounds, effects, etc.

As for the extension EYVD, I found it easy to use. However, I don't appreciate the fact that it can only be downloaded through Mozilla.

Week 8 Task 1: Lesson Planning

I used ChatGPT to generate a lesson plan about Black Representation in Movies. I asked : "please create a student-centered lesson plan for English as a foreign language students (currently B1 level, working towards B2) about Black representation in movies. Generate also a final task that the plan must prepare the students for. Make it appropriate for 16- and 17-year-olds. Ideally it will consist of 7 to 8 45-minute sessions before the final task." However I didn't like its final task so I asked it "it's good but please change the final task by adding a functional approach for the students" and I preferred the second task.

I really the plans it generated.

Week 9 Task 1: Learning Apps

With LearningApps I created a game to help learning each US states. I could use it to help my student with their learning of the states, at the end of a lesson or just before the holidays...

LearningApps is quite easy to use, it offers many types apps and games, and it's free. However, if you want to download your work you must create an account.

Task for Week 4: Download & Convert a Video

I downloaded a video from Youtube (an American family going to Paris and one of the characters tries to act French but is faced with the reality of French culture => American v. French culture) using Easy Youtube Video Downloader Express on Mozilla Firefox.

Then I used VideoProc for Mac to convert the video from mp4 to wmv format.

It was very easy to use and I Know I will use it if I need to download videos for future projects as a teacher or as a university student.
