St Paul's conversion is significant as it was him who further spread the "Word of God" to neighbouring cities and regions, without his conversion taking place the Stories, Scriptures and the Word of God may have died out leaving Christianity to fade away. St Paul's conversion occurred during his trip to Damascus, he was blinded by a bright light that was said to be the Lord's son Jesus.

St Paul went on journeys to many places in the Mediterranean spreading the word of God to anyone and everyone he came across. During his journey to Damascus, he was blinded by a bright light for three days, this bright light was said to be Jesus. St Paul's first Missionary Journey was to Cyprus. St Paul and the people he was with travelled to Seleucia then set sail to Salamis, the main city of Cyprus. Once arriving in Cyprus, Paul preached the Gospel of the Lord to multiple synagouges in hope to convert people to Christianity, after this Paul travelled by foot to the other side of the Island of Cyprus. When arriving on the other side of the island, the Governor of a city named Paphos requested that the two Evangelists that acompannied Paul could meet with him so he could personally hear the "gospel of the Lord". It was said that Paul travelled more than 10,000 miles on his first missionary journey.

The letters of Paul have different main messages but they all had one thing in common, and that was to inform people of the word of God and Christianity. He preached to Gentiles and Jews about the way Jesus, the Son of God, wanted us to live, they way God wanted us to live. St Paul gave out advice to churches and people on the streets about how to live a simple lifestyle based around the teachings of God.

A cultural challenge for Paul that is evident in one of his epistles is the Jewish aw and how the beliefs of the Jews and the thoughts of the Gentiles came into play. In particular the issue was based around the thoughts of circumcision, according to Jewish beliefs all Gentiles must be circumcised before being able to convert to Christianity as Jesus once born a Jew, Paul fought this belief and stated that the belief and trust in God and his gospel was the only thing needed to become Christian.

Philippians 2:1-5, 3:12-14, 4:6-9

Philippians 2:1-5 - "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others.Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus." The main message in this passage is to think of others before you think of yourself, not be be selfish but to help people when they need help. This passage from Paul is able to be applied to people today as people all over the world need help and guidance, for example,
there a homeless people who don't have food to eat, water to drink, a roof over their heads or simple clothing, comfort and protection.

Philippians 3:12-14 - "I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus." The main message in this passage is that God has a plan and goal for you so when it is made aware to you, make it your own. Another message in this passage is to look to the future and not back at the past. For example, if something happened in the past like a fight or a disease that has affected you or someone you care about, after all the incidents have happened, instead of looking back at it, reflect on what had happened and work on what you could do to make it easier for others to surpass.

Philippians 4:6-9 - God is with you all the time, when needing and seeking guidance, pray to him and he will send his guidance back.
