So, I learnt something new today, if we were to look at your larynx we would see that it’s diamond shaped and that the vocal chords are stretched across it in a V shape. Most of the songs I’m doing for this project require a lower pitch and richer tone, and I looked at what the physical change for a different range would be and it turns out that when you're singing low your entire larynx changes shape so the chords can contract and thicken as contrary to when you sing high, the larynx lengthens and stretches to thin the chords out!

This is best achieved if you learn to stay relaxed when singing, so that the larynx can change its shape and the chords can freely vibrate without any influence from the exterior muscles.

Warm up exercises

I've been doing these exercises to widen and strengthen my lower range, these are:

1. The Glottal Stop-

Its a very small unit of sound that brings the chords together quickly. This is to take into register the feeling of space and complete relaxation, it will ensure the compensating muscles stay out of the way so that you are isolating only the chords on the inside.

2. The Drinking Water Sound-

This sound is considered extreme so it is not to be used without moderation. The drinking water sound is pretty self explanatory, it is the quirky little sound as if you are pretending to drink. You do this with your mouth closed, and with all the space in your mouth, isolate your feeling of the larynx and try to vocalise the sound of drinking.
This sound releases the larynx and allows the chords to connect deeper, resulting in more depth in tone.

3. The Vocal Fry-

This is the sound that sounds like a creaky door opening and closing. Again, it is a small unit of sound that our chords can make, it sounds a little wacky to use because you are slow the airflow down so much that we can hear each oscillation of the chord. For the exercise with the vocal fry, you are going to slide from a conformable low note to an unfamiliar low note. The instance you feel is the tiniest pressure applied to your chords, that's when you slip into the vocal fry.

Relationships are really important, if I was to be in a band I would have to collaborate with all the band members and always have the band's best interest in mind. Although, when it comes to solo performers, its best to keep a good relationship with other musicians - this helps maintain good social sills and possibly learn and help, not only myself but my peers as well.

Throughout, the whole FMP, I had to have a good relationship with TuesdaysChild because with being asked to be the support act, I did not want any unnecessary feud or complications between me and the band.

My role on my FMP was to be my own manager and, of course, the singer on my project. Although, my project was just recording, editing and uploading. I had a really hard time organising step by step what I needed to do, making it difficult to moving on with the project.

I went with what I was most comfortable with, and that was, 'When I was your man' by Bruno Mars, 'Impossible' by James Arthur, 'When I look at you' by Miley Cyrus and finally 'Don't you worry child', an acoustic cover with my own twist. These are all very similar structure wise but I'm confident that I can make it differ from each other.

It has parametric channels to enable changes to the width of the frequency band that is utilized to shape sound in our mixes.

Equalisation is mainly used to fix unwanted noise like a drum ring in the recording, we can also add effects to the mix an example is we could make it sound like its coming from telephone by turning the gain down on a low pass.

As a singer, I do not like the way she sings this, it is too monotone and it does not show off her voice. It does not sound good and it looks effortless. Her stage presence is not the best either, she starts near the audience but pays no mind to them and in my opinion she could have reached out and interacted with them. The song is slow and sensual an she could have acted on it, she could have moved her body a lot more but still keep it simple and effortless.

The part where she points the microphone to the audience I think it was good, it showed she was attentive to her audience and it showed that she liked the fact that her fans are enjoying it.

As for the back line, it all seems levelled out and okay, maybe adjust the sound and reverb on the singer and track possible making it clearer to listen to.
