Answer using Chapter 22:
o	How is a living organism the sum of all of its parts?
o	How do cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems relate to the complexity of living organisms?
o	How are tissues, organs, systems and organisms affected when cells cease to function adequately or at all?

A.) How is a living organism the sum of all of its parts ?
A living organism is the sum of all its parts because all parts of your body help you maintain homeostasis. pg.#580
B.) How do cell, tissues, organs, and organ systems relate to the complexity of living organisms ?
They relate to the complexity because cell, tissues ,organs, and organ systems make up each other in the body system, they also help the other body system work together. pg#581
C.) How are tissues, organs, systems and organisms affected when cells cease to function adequately or at all ?
The cells cease to function because if parts of your body are not functioning properly then the cells will maybe soon start to die off so that all of your body systems will not work.pg.#580-581

1) a living organism is a sum of all it's parts because when you add all the parts up together then the sum is a living organism. It's like math, when you add something then you get the sum.(page 580)
2) They relate to the complexity of living organisms because cells make tissues and tissues make organs and organs make organ systems and organ systems make organisms (page 580-581)
3)When cells start to die then they won't be able to help tissues and then tissues won't be able to help organs and organs won't be able to help organ systems and organ systems won't be able to help organisms, which means that it will affect the organisms because it's a chain reaction.(page 580-582)

Its like a domino affect. Organ systems depend on organs and organs depend on tissues and tissues depend on cells. The tissues need all cells to function correctly so that the tissues can function correctly. So if they dont function correctly, this will create a domino affect and the cell can greatly damaged or even might die. Elijah A
