We study literature to explore different stories and examine texts and excerpts. We do this by picking apart the text and analyzing the importance of it and how the literary devices strengthen the text. Studying TTTC helps further our knowledge on literary skills and the truth about war.

2. How are we affected by literary texts in various ways? How are we impacted by TTTC?
Literary texts can spark more emotions and a better understanding of empathy for others since these texts can help teach others to see things from different perspectives. TTTC is very impactful because of the sympathy that can can be directed towards certain situations, and the readers also learn more about the reality of war and the harsh and traumatic experiences it has.

3. In what ways is meaning constructed, negotiated, expressed and interpreted in TTTC?
Literary devices helped construct, negotiate, express, and interpret the text since it helps explain the authors ideas and it strengthens the writing in TTTC. It supports the bond between the reader and the characters and it also assists in painting a better picture of the scene.

4. How does the structure of style of TTTC affect its meaning?
The structure has an informal style which makes the text more personal since it is written similar to the way the men talked in the war. This makes it seem more like the telling of a story and this makes the audience feel more welcomed and apart of the story.

All this was said without drama, as if to herself, her 

voice slow and impassive. She was not trying to persuade. 15

 For a few moments she looked at Mark Fossie, who seemed 

to shrink away, then she turned and moved back into the 

gloom. 

There was nothing to be done. 

Rat took Fossie's arm, helped him up, and led him out- 20

side. In the darkness there was that weird tribal music, 

which seemed to come from the earth itself, from the deep 

rain forest, and a woman's voice rising up in a language be-

yond translation. 

Mark Fossie stood rigid. 25

"Do something," he whispered. "I can't just let her go like

 that." 

Rat listened for a time, then shook his head. 

"Man, you must be deaf. She's already gone." 

Rat Kiley stopped there, almost in mid sentence, which 30

drove Mitchell Sanders crazy. 

"What next?" he said. 

"Next?" 

"The girl. What happened to her?" 

Rat made a small, tired motion with his shoulders. "Hard 35

to tell for sure. Maybe three, four days later I got orders to report 

here to Alpha Company. Jumped the first chopper out, that's 

the last I ever seen of the place. Mary Anne, too." 

Mitchell Sanders stared at him.

1. How important is cultural or historical context to the production and reception of a literary text?Context is very important because it adds to the background / significance of the text. Providing cultural or historical context can make the literary text be perceived  differently because of the new information that goes along with the text which makes the reader relate extract to the context. This relates to the reading because when context was provided then the literary work was looked at differently then when other works that did not have any context. It provided a better understanding of the work and it made the audience  understand  how to properly focus on how to analysis the poem with the context.

2. How do we approach literary texts from different times and cultures to our own?
Most of the time literary texts that written in a different makes the audience  focus more closely ion the meaning and purpose of the text. This relates to reading Hughes work because when reading the provided poems it was clear on how the reader would closely analysis the purpose behind the literary text. Paying closer attention to the details and differences was important because it also provided different ways of talking and different meaning to certain things which makes the reader focus on the changes and why they were significant and why Hughes might have used that instead of something different.

3. To what extent do literary texts offer insight into another culture?
Literary texts can provide more information on different times, experiences, and cultures. This causes Hughes audience to pay close attention to why this culture is important and what the purpose of including a culture into the text was. This relates to reading Hughes literary texts because when information about a culture was provided the reader would analysis the importance of including this particular information.

It gives insight about honor and societal expectations are extremely important. Maintaining honor is one of the most important things in the culture and not upholding the expectations of marianismo and machismo can make you an outcast to society.
