About 9-10 patients said they have cancelled their social engagement because of bipolar depression. In addition, people with bipolar disorder reported that bipolar depressive symptoms affected their ability to manage housework and run errands. Many people with bipolar disorder spend more time in the depressive phase, including the feeling of emptiness and sadness, depressed moods and inability to concentrate than the manic phase.</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

Although depending on the nature of the persons illness and how well it is managed the family can be affected in a variety of ways. It can be exhausting for the family especially a family with a young child. The family can be impacted by the following ways - Emotional distress, disruptions in routines, having to deal with unusual and potentially dangerous behaviour, strained relationships with family and the person carrying the illness and changes in family roles which results in stress.</div>]]></description>
