         <description><![CDATA[<div>Sugar is the term we use to describe a wide range of sweet-tasting, soluble carbohydrates that provide energy for our bodies. There are various different types of sugars – some of which can be found naturally in foods (i.e. fruits, vegetables), while others are extracted from plants (e.g. sugarcane). We use sugar very often in our diets, typically as a sweetener in our food and drinks.</div>]]></description>

It has been found that diets with excessive amounts of sugar are tied to obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, dementia and tooth decay, among other things.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Why is too much sugar bad for us?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The main reason why sugar is so harmful for us is that it's packed with so many calories. Having something so little that is so dense with calories is dangerous, because people would be able to consume large amounts of it with ease. On its own, calories aren't inherently bad by any means, but this is a separate case because sugar also supplies very little in nutrients. This makes them <strong>empty calories</strong>, as they provide little value to health.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Are some sugars worse than other sugars?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Research has shown that some sugars can be worse than other sugars. When on this topic, people generally turn to added sugars as the villain. As the name suggests, these sugars that are <em>added</em> to foods and drinks, commonly to serve the functions of preservation, texture, volume or richness. These can be found in soft drinks or energy drinks. It is said that excessive intake of added sugars, especially in the form of sweetened drinks, can increase risk of weight gain or diabetes, along with other chronic illnesses. Natural sugars, on the other hand, naturally occur in foods such as fruits, vegetables, dairy and grain products. It is often said that these natural sugars are "good" sugars, as they have added benefits of vitamins, minerals and fibre.</div>]]></description>
