Pablo stood at the edge of La Playa de los Dedos, staring at the giant stone hand emerging from the sand. The cold wind whipped his face, and the sun dipped low over the horizon, casting long shadows across the beach. To everyone else, this sculpture was a tourist attraction, a curious piece of art. But to Pablo, it was a symbol of the past-of a betrayal he could never forgive.

Years ago, he and Lucas were inseparable, partners in both business and friendship.

Together, they had built a thriving company, with promises of wealth and success. But Lucas had been greedy. He betrayed Pablo, stealing both their profits and his girlfriend, Clara. That day had shattered Pablo's life.

The Dedos stood as a reminder of how Lucas had clawed his way to the top, leaving Pablo buried beneath the weight of his deceit. And now, Pablo was back, not for closure, but for vengeance.

He had carefully planned every detail. For weeks, he had followed Lucas, learning his routines, waiting for the right moment.

Tonight was perfect. Lucas had rented a beachfront villa, just a stone's throw away from the monument. He was there alone, celebrating another successful deal, unaware that his past was about to catch up to him.

Under the cover of darkness, Pablo made his way to the villa, the ocean's waves crashing in the background. His heart raced !, but his

mind was clear. As he approached the door, he could hear the clinking of glasses from inside. Lucas was toasting to his stolen success, his ill-gotten fortune.

With a swift motion, Pablo entered, finding Lucas sitting in the dimly lit room. Their eyes met, and for a moment, time froze. Lucas's smile faded, replaced by a look of shock and fear.

"Pablo... I didn't know you were-" Lucas started, but Pablo cut him off.

Melanie mendoza

Saya

Once upon a time, there was a young man named Fuminori Sakisaka, a brilliant medical student whose life changed in an instant. A car accident on Camino de los Gauchos, a road in Maldonado, shattered his world. He survived, but what came after was far worse than death. After brain surgery to save his life, Fuminori awoke to discover that the world he knew had vanished. His eyes now saw a distorted reality, a nightmare of rotting flesh and indescribable horrors. Everything familiar – the streets, the houses, even the people – now appeared before him as amorphous monsters and grotesque landscapes. He was trapped in a reality that seemed ripped straight from the depths of hell.

The suffering was constant. No one around him could understand the torment he endured every day, and he began to isolate himself from his friends and his normal life, unable to bear the monstrous vision of the world around him. But one day, amidst this nightmarish landscape, a light appeared, a different figure. She was a young girl named Sata. To Fuminori, Saya was the only beautiful thing in a world of horrors. She was perfect, with a sweet and innocent appearance. She became his only refuge, his only reason to keep living. In a world where everything else had become an abyss of terror, Saya was his anchor.

But Saya was no ordinary girl. She didn’t belong to this world. In fact, Saya was something far more strange and dangerous. A being from another plane of existence, a creature beyond human comprehension. To everyone else’s eyes, Saya was nothing more than an abomination, an indescribable monster. But Fuminori, with his distorted perception, saw her as a beautiful and perfect girl. Saya, like Fuminori, was alone in a world she didn’t understand. She sought answers, searching for her "father," the scientist who had brought her into this human world.

Over time, Fuminori and Saya became inseparable. He, desperate to escape the madness of his own perception, accepted Saya without question. He didn’t care what Saya did or what she really was. As long as he could be with her, nothing else mattered. But what Fuminori didn’t see — or didn’t want to see — was that Saya was doing terrible things in her search for answers. Innocent humans became her victims, transformed into horrific monsters through her cruel experiments.

On the other hand, Fuminori’s friends began to worry about him. Koji, his best friend, and Omi, Koji’s girlfriend, couldn’t understand why Fuminori had become so distant. They suspected something was terribly wrong, but they could never have imagined the horror that was unfolding. When Omi decided to get too close to the truth, Saya transformed her into a monstrous creature, leading to her inevitable demise. Koji, devastated by Omi’s disappearance, knew he had to confront his friend to uncover the truth.

The situation spiraled out of control. Ryoko Tanbo, a psychiatrist treating Fuminori, also discovered the truth. Saya was not human; she was a creature that didn’t belong to this world. A being that had come to Earth with abilities far beyond human understanding. Her existence represented an unimaginable danger. As Koji and Ryoko delved deeper into the horrors that Fuminori and Saya had unleashed, the tension mounted, and the final confrontation became inevitable.

Then came the climax. Koji, armed with the truth and determined to face the monstrosity his friend had allowed into the world, confronted Fuminori. In the darkness of that final night, the fate of everyone was sealed.

The true ending of this story, one that few would dare to imagine, shows how love, despair, and the inhuman can combine to destroy the world as we know it. Fuminori, now irreparably consumed by his connection with Saya, chooses to stay with her. Saya, seeking to reproduce and expand her species, releases her spores into the world, transforming humans into creatures like her. In her final experiment, the world begins to change. The cities, the people, everything starts to rot and mutate under Saya’s influence. And thus, the world descends into a nightmare beyond human comprehension.

Fuminori, happy and blinded by his love, accepts this fate. To him, as long as Saya is with him, the end of the world doesn’t matter. Humanity, as we once knew it, has come to an end. The future now belongs to the monstrous creatures Saya has created.

This is the story of Saya no Uta, a tale of love and horror, of the fragility of the human mind and the limits of morality. In the end, what we see, what we feel, what we love... it all depends on perspective. And for Fuminori, in a world of nightmares, Saya was his only dream come true. But for the rest of the world, she was the embodiment of the worst kind of horror.

Autor: Ignacion Pereyra.

The school in Montevideo was at least 78 years old, and several generations of his family, as well as some of the most important people in the city, had passed through it. In recent years, some suspicious events had occurred at the school, and the children wouldn’t stop saying that a ghost appeared in the hallways and in the empty classrooms. As the days went by, the unease in the school grew. Rumors about the ghost began to fill the children with fear, as they claimed to have seen shadows in the hallways and heard whispers at night. The teachers, initially skeptical, started to notice changes in the students’ behavior: some refused to stay at school after classes, while others huddled in.

Valentín ARRIOLA

The Vanishing Guest

The warm summer breeze drifted through the windows of a beach house in Punta del Este, Uruguay. Luca, Mateo, Camila, Sofía, and Javier were celebrating their vacation with music, drinks, and laughter. Everything was perfect—until a knock at the door interrupted the night.

Javier opened it to find a man standing there. "I’m Bruno," the stranger said. "A friend of your cousin." Javier welcomed him inside, and soon, Bruno charmed the group with stories, cocktails, and music. He fit in almost too easily, though Luca remained wary, especially noticing how Bruno seemed drawn to Sofía.

When midnight came, everyone went to bed—except for Bruno and Sofía, who stayed on the terrace, talking under the stars.

The next morning, Luca woke to find the front door open. Bruno and Sofía were gone, and Sofía’s phone and purse were still in the house. Panic spread as the group searched the area, but there was no sign of them.

“Maybe she left with him,” Mateo suggested.

“Without her things?” Camila shot back, shaking her head. “She wouldn’t just disappear like that.”

Hours later, just as they were about to call the police again, the gate creaked open. Sofía stumbled in barefoot and dazed, her clothes wrinkled, as if she had slept on the beach.

“What happened?” Luca asked urgently.

Sofía struggled to remember. “We were walking... Bruno told me strange things. He knew personal things about us, things no stranger could know.” She shivered. “Then, everything went black.”

The group exchanged uneasy glances. “We need to check the photos,” Camila said, grabbing her phone. She flipped through the pictures from the night before and found a group shot on the terrace.

They all leaned in. Bruno wasn’t in the picture.

“But he was sitting right here,” Sofía whispered, pointing to an empty spot beside her. “I remember him.”

A heavy silence fell over them. If Bruno wasn’t in the photo—had he ever really been there?

They left the beach house the next morning, too unnerved to stay. As Luca drove away, he glanced in the rearview mirror. For just a second, he thought he saw a figure on the terrace, waving goodbye.

End.
