Step 2: Use the time allotted to read your partner’s writing. Use the graphic organizer on the back to take notes when reviewing your partner’s work and receiving feedback.
  1. In the first read you simply read everything.
  2. In the second read you look for spelling, grammar, punctuation.
  3. In the third read you check for accuracy in information and connection back to claim/thesis.

Step 3: Review rubric and assign score to your elbow partner.

Step 4: Share feedback with your partner, round 1. Use the graphic organizer on the back to take notes when reviewing your partner’s work and receiving feedback.
  • The partner sharing feedback is the only one speaking.

Step 5: Ask questions to the partner that share feedback. Use the graphic organizer on the back to take notes when reviewing your partner’s work and receiving feedback.
  • The partner who just received feedback in the only one speaking.

Step 6: Partner who just shared feedback now responds to questions. Use the graphic organizer on the back to take notes when reviewing your partner’s work and receiving feedback.
  • The partner receiving feedback should be taking notes/making edits to work.

Step 7: Repeat Steps 4-6 now with the partner that just received feedback as the one giving feedback.
