Neglecting our self-care as counselors can cause us to be be at risk of burn out, compassion fatigue, or second hand depression. People who work in helping professions need to take care of themselves because not only can it affect their work performance but also affect their personal lives. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>One self-care strategy I'll be incorporating into my everyday routine is establishing limits and maintaining a healthy work-home balance. I will be concentrating solely on myself, friends, and family at home, leaving any unfinished grading and planning at school. </p><p><br></p><p>I will also continue working towards my physical well being, by focusing an hour a day to exercising. I will also be feeding my mind with positive thoughts, and saying what I'm thankful for everyday. Lastly, I will stop feeling guilty if I need a day off to myself to get a pedicure, a facial, or even a massage. </p>]]></description>
