In Sweden, where the Rosens went to escape the Nazis, Ellen made a new friend. Her name was Agnes. Agnes was the same age as Ellen and had she also left Denmark to find a better life away from the Nazis. The Rosens had to learn Swedish, but Agnes had learned Swedish so she was able to help.

While they were in Sweden, they lived the capital, Stockholm. Stockholm was a nice place to live. Sweden also had a king, but he didn't ride on a horse on the streets like King Christian. Ellen liked living there, although she wanted to see Annemarie again. At least Agnes was there to cheer her up.

Ellen wanted to go home to Copenhagen, where she knew where everything was, but she wasn't allowed to because Denmark was still occupied.

Ellen asked Ms. Rosen, "When will we be able to go back home?"

"I am not sure, no one knows when the war will be over," Ms. Rosen replied.

Ellen tried to stay happy, but she was still sad that she won't see Annemarie in a while.

"Why do the Germans want to punish Jews?" Ellen asked Mr. Rosen.

Mr. Rosen replied, "They think the Jews caused all of their problems."

"Why would they think that?" Ellen asked.

"Because Jewish people were doing well while other people were suffering from the Great Depression," Mr. Rosen answered.

Creation Story Assignment: How The Stars Were Created

In the beginning of humanity, humans were content with the Sun, Moon and fire being their only source of light. One day, the humans wanted the sky to have more light during the night. The Great Spirit tried making a second sun, but the people were not impressed. So, the Great Spirit got rid of it and made hundreds of large stars. The people were still not impressed because they were too bright. So, the Great Spirit made them smaller and made shapes with them. The people noticed these shapes. Some saw a horse, some saw a bear, and some saw a spoon-like shape. The people were impressed, but they asked for the Great Spirit to make new stars every few months. The Great Spirit complied and made new stars every few months. The people thanked them for their hard work. Little did they know that some of the stars would fall out of the sky. The stars wouldn't fall onto humans, but they were still scared. The Great Spirit didn't care because they had already asked for so much. The humans started to think it was cool that the stars would fall sometimes. They thought it was interesting and that it was exciting. Now, thanks to the Great Spirit, stars fill the night sky.

Once upon a time, there was a family living in Upper Canada. In that family, there was a dad, a mom and two sisters. Their dad had milked their cow one day, but they already had enough milk. By the time they had ran out of milk, the milk had spoiled.while the dad was milking the cow again, the two sisters had to get rid of the spoiled milk. The smell disgusted them, but they had to do it. When they went outside, they poured out the spoiled milk. Then, they noticed an ant hill. They had just spilled disgusting, spoiled cow's milk on an ant colony. They told thier parents and they did nothing.

The Parthenon (Paragraph 3)

The Parthenon was solidly built, but it was an artistic marvel. Not one “straight” line on the Parthenon, for example, is actually straight. Vertical columns, in fact, appear to be narrower in the middle when they actually are not. The architects of the Parthenon adjusted for this by making their columns with a bulge in the middle. This type of adjustment is called an “optical refinement.” The columns are not straight, to be sure, but they look straight.
