Source 1: Before the Japanese Occupation, schools such as Catholic High School taught students in English and Chinese. During the Japanese Occupation, students were required to learn Japanese as a third language. Apart from that, they also had to communicate in Japanese. I chose this source because it tells us that the teenagers had to go through a tough time learning a different language.

Source 2: Before the Japanese Occupation, students went to school without any financial problems. During the Japanese Occupation, banana money existed and prices for school fees soared. Many students could not afford to go to school. I chose this source as it tells us that because of the Japanese, the students did not get proper education since there were financial problems.
