Following your request regarding support for care leavers aged 18–25, I’d like to confirm that within our Talking Therapies service in Luton we are able to support any young person from the age of 16 upwards. We have a number of qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and High Intensity Therapists available to provide support to vulnerable young people.

We are commissioned by BLMK ICB, and the Talking Therapies services across Bedfordshire, Luton, and Milton Keynes all provide similar support. The main difference is that while Luton accepts referrals from age 16, the other services generally support people aged 18 and above (though I’m not certain about the area in question).

The programme supports local people with real opportunities on live construction projects, while enabling contractors to build a sustainable and inclusive workforce.

Delivered in partnership with local employers and stakeholders, FutureIN helps ensure growth and regeneration in Luton create long-term benefits for people and communities.

Inspiring Minds is Loughborough University's series of free academic taster days for post-16 students. Students will have the opportunity to come to campus and experience university lectures, discovering what it would like to study their chosen subject at university level.

The online programme helps you to navigate the Cambridge admissions process. The programme runs from June 2026 to January 2027.

On the programme:

• there are weekly activities from June until the 15 October UCAS deadline. This includes interview and admissions test practice

• Cambridge staff and Admissions Tutors will share their advice on the application process, supporting you to make a competitive application

• you will be supported by a Cambridge student mentor for 5 months throughout phases 2 and 3 of the programme

With the UK nearing one million young people not in education, employment or training, we believe we have a responsibility and a unique opportunity as one of the UK’s largest employers of young people, to help address this issue.

That’s why, in July, we’re launching our new in-person paid work experience programme - the biggest of its kind in the UK - to help even more young people to kickstart their careers.

The programme will offer 2,500 work experience placements in its first year in communities across the country, supporting young people to build confidence and develop transferable skills.

What does it look like?

The five-day work experience placement, for those aged 16-19, will be facilitated by local McDonald’s Franchisees and offers participants hands-on experience in key restaurant operations to learn how a business functions. These include service, food production and customer interactions, with support provided by an experienced restaurant team member throughout.

This supported employment is for people who have additional barriers or who need a bit of extra help to find and keep a job.

You work with an Employment Specialist who helps you plan what you need to do and helps you complete the steps towards getting a job and staying in a job. There are two main parts: finding the right job for you and keeping the job.

To be suitable for Connect to Work, you:

• Are unemployed or at risk of losing paid work.

• Are aged 18+

• Live in the South Midlands region – Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes, or Northamptonshire

• Are motivated to find paid employment

• Are not on another DWP work programme such as Restart or Workwell

The programme is completely voluntary and offers personalised, one‑to‑one employment support to help you build confidence, find work, and keep it.

Connect to Work offers support to people with disabilities, health conditions and other barriers to work. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is funding the £30.7 million programme. It will support 7,800 people across Greater Essex over five years.

Connect to Work is open to residents across Essex, Southend-on-Sea, and Thurrock. Residents aged 18 can join the programme if they:

• have a long-term health condition

• have a disability

• are part of one of the programme’s priority groups

Designed to help people who face barriers to employment. Such as health conditions, disabilities, or specific disadvantages - find and stay in meaningful work.

If someone is unemployed or at risk of leaving their job, the programme offers up to 12 months of support to help them get back into work.

Alongside Medway Council we have funding to support more than 9,000 individuals across Kent and Medway. The scheme not only supports job seekers, but we also offer free support to businesses to help employ people to their organisation.

Connect to Work is a Supported Employment ‘place, train and maintain’ programme. This means it will bring together vocational profiling, employer engagement, job finding, and on and off the job support for participants. Employers will also be supported to take on participants. It will also provide tailored self-employment support where appropriate. Supported Employment uses the Individual Placement and Support or Supported Employment Quality Framework fidelity models. It is based on evidence and proven to help people gain or retain employment.

Backed by investment from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Connect to Work will deliver tailored, localised support across Croydon, Kingston, Merton, Richmond, and Sutton.

How does SAYes mentoring work?

• You choose a Mentor who has been professionally trained and approved by SAYes Mentoring.

• You meet on a video call for 1 hour, once a week, for 9 months.

• The SAYes team provides comprehensive support throughout your 9-month mentorship.

• In order to graduate, you must complete 65%-70% of scheduled weekly meetings.

• You may choose to stay in touch with your mentor beyond the 9-month programme, however this is not required.

• After graduation, you may re-enrol in the programme with a new mentor.

What?: Mansfield's Outreach team will deliver a webinar alongside staff members from Become. This webinar will introduce the University of Oxford and will give you an idea of what university life is like. We will discuss support you can receive from your local authority, universities, and Become. You will also get the chance to ask any questions you may have.
Who?: For students under the age of 21 who are interested in learning more about life at university and the University of Oxford.

Intro to the University of Oxford for Mature Students
When?: 28 May 2026. 6pm-7:30pm    
What?: Mansfield's Outreach team will deliver a webinar alongside staff members from Become. This webinar will introduce the University of Oxford and will give an overview of what life is like at university as a mature student. We will discuss support you can receive from your local authority, universities, and Become. You will also get the chance to ask any questions you may have.
Who?: For mature students (aged 21+) who are interested in learning more about life at university and the University of Oxford.

Colourscape is formed of many interlinked chambers of primary colours to create a labyrinth (each chamber c. 4M across). Step forwards and a long view of radiating colours appears.  Another step and another view appears until you are surrounded and immersed in the most intense colour and light imaginable. Visitors have described the experience as being like “wrapped in a rainbow” or saying “I felt I could breathe colours!"

You can freely walk anywhere to explore this amazing space and will discover musicians and dancers anywhere inside leading you on a journey of all the senses. The musicians may be found in a large Silver Dome playing unusual instruments - maybe Tibetan Singing bowls or Asian instruments or instruments of water, maybe playing the branch of a tree or a bicycle wheel with a violin bow!  And the dancers express the music with creative movement that draws you into the experience.

This is a contemporary music, art and dance event that everyone can enjoy from babies to 100-year-olds!

Volunteer it Yourself is a not for profit organisation which provides short trade and construction work experience opportunities to people, alongside mentoring and employability support.  Our opportunities give people the chance to spend a few days on a site, learning new skills, gaining qualifications and getting a taste of work as a tradesperson. This summer's programme is a space for young people to discover, articulate and play. From English grammar and vocabulary classes, to life skills and political education sessions, to arts and crafts workshops exploring new artforms (think fashion, mosaic, graffiti, cyanotype printing and more!) - young people can try different things and experience new interests, all while learning their new language and making loads of great friends. We'll also be playing different sports with a high-energy coach every day and venturing on an exciting trip or two, as we always do. 

We are now open for referrals and would be keen to hear if you know any young people who might be interested.

Volunteering is a great way to support us and get involved with your local community. Around 200 people give their time to us each year and this time is worth tens of thousands of pounds. More importantly, our volunteers change lives.

Our volunteers support us in a range of ways, including Board members, experienced counsellors, supporting in our groups and courses, office administration, fundraising and gardening volunteers.

All are equally important to us and we simply wouldn’t be able to provide all the services we do without their help.
