Lennie loves animals so he had a puppy and he thought the puppy was playing then he killed it.Curly's wife went in the barn and Lennie loves soft hair so she told him to feel her hair and then she yelled and he tried to make stop then he broke her neck.

Lennie loves animals, he had a pet puppy but accidentally kills it because he thought the pup was being mean to him.....he didn't meant it but he knows if George finds out he will get mad and wont be able to trust Lennie with the rabbits....Curly wife comes in and tries to talk to Lennie but she knows something up when she see that Lennie not interesting in talking to her, she ask why and Lennie was honest to her and told her George said for him to not talk to her that he will get mad at him...curly wife gets upset because she just want someone to talk to...and she tries to convince Lennie to talk to her but Lennie refuse to not....curly wife knows that Lennie likes to play with hair, so curly wife suggest to let Lennie play with her hair...as Lennie playing with her hair she starts to scream and Lennie ends up breaking her neck to keep her quiet.....

George has conflicting feelings about Lennie. While he has promised Lennie's aunt to look after Lennie, George has encountered problems as Lennie gets them into trouble and they lose jobs.(internal Conflict)

One example of foreshadowing in Of Mice and Men is when Lennie breaks his puppy's neck at the beginning of chapter 5. Later in the chapter, he accidentally breaks Curley's wife's neck as well. The death of the puppy foreshadows the death of Curley's wife.

Slim, looking down at the dead body, suggests perhaps Curley should stay with his dead wife and cool off lennie hell-bent on shooting Lennie himself, even if he's only got one good hand.
And George had better join the hunting party, or everyone might start thinking that he had something to do with it

this time a water snake is eaten by a heron "while its tail waves frantically." Again the naturalistic design of nature is indicated, and Lennie's fate is foreshadowed.
