         <description><![CDATA[<div>Colonists were treated very unfairly by the British government and in turn wanted freedom from the abusiveness of them. Many tax laws were created that went against the colonists(Stamp Act, Tea Act etc.), Colonists had no representation in Parliament votes and no votes in the British Government. They finally got fed up and declared Independence from the British.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Declaration of Independence was written in 1776 by Thomas Jefferson to King George the III. This talked about how the colonists requested independence from England. This was written 442 days after the first shot of the American Revolution, which was the Colonists belligerent way of fighting for independence.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-John Locke was a humongous influence on the way the Government works now. He was the one who started the separation of power philosophy, he presented the idea of modern Liberal democracy which is what we run today, and helped the development of executive and legislative power.<br>-Ideas from Hobbes, Montesquieu, Rousseau etc. made us question the idea of monarchs which lead the development of the new Government we wanted.</div>]]></description>
