Relational poverty means less buffering capacity when we experience stress. We are becoming more "sensitized" to anything that feels potentially threatening, such as a differing political opinion. - Many people are becoming "overly reactive" to minor changes. When we are overly sensitized we quickly shift to less rational, emotional style of thinking.

Sometimes I forget that relationships, in a number of ways, really impact a child's trauma journey. Making/maintaining those connections is essential in therapeutic relationships with people who experience impacts of trauma.
