Devience is when behaviour which goes against the society's acceptesd norms and values. This invovles the questionin in moralilty, and the act commited can differ depending on societys views of behaviour morals. Some of these devient acts can become crimimal and is completetly dependend on the society it is commeted in.
In my eyes devience in sport is wrong because it takes the sports of out a games and turns it into a bad match because players are not performing the sport for the sport they are trying to get more fame out of the act the commit.
Whats the point in playing a sport to cheat at it?

Sportsmanship is the fair playing of a game and is played within both the written ruyles and unwritten rules of the sport. A good sportman has a good etiquette and respect for all who are invovled with the sport. Some examples of when sportsmanship happens in games is when a football player is helping and injured opponent during a football game back up, also if when boxers shake hand before and after a match.

gamesmanship is when a player pushes the rules of a game to the very limit without getting caught and tends to be by dubious methods to gain and advantage on an opponent. Some examples of when gamesmanship takes place is when players surround a referee to sway a decision to let of a tackle, or when a tennis player decided to tie their shoe lace as their opponent serves. Now a huge example of a gamesmanship act is simulation and this a huge issue in football for example when a performer decides to dive on the floor and act injured to either waste time or get the ref to allow a free kick.

Now we all know what cheating is as most of people have cheated in a test in school. However cheating can be in different levels in sports from just injuring a player by breaking rules all the way to taking drugs to gain an advantage which can become criminal. Cheating is defined as a deliberate act to break the written rules to gain an unfair advantage on opponents and actions are deceptive.

Case of deviance in sport

As horrible and made up this case seems, it is one hundred percent real and makes me sick to my stomach hearing about this monstrosity that occurred. The case is a USA gymnastics doctor that abused 265 girls over the years of his career. He has been sentenced due to a "whistle blower" that started a call out if the victims who came forward and this person is now serving life in a federal prison. It was known that Larry took injured gymnast into the back room where the deviance took place, where he was meant to be giving medical care, I honestly do not understand the disconnect between the logic of this man not to perform these vile acts.

Larry Nasser who was a doctor for an gymnastics company in the USA and has called an uproar from people that are outside of the company that are baffled including myself on how this tragedy even occurred never mind for so long. This case first began due to the fact that this person was found to have explicit pictures and videos on his laptop of children and young teens and this sentence alone convicted this person for 60 years, through this investigation a former victim of Larry came out over the abuse he caused her during her visits. she stated that "she was first molested when she was nine years old", Imagine that an nine year old someone that still in primary school going through such a traumatising experience. Thankfully to the extremely brave girl she managed to speak out years after the abuse and lived with this in her mind for 8 full years which probably ate her alive. Due to this a further investigation was opened on Larry and due to Jessica coming out with her statement she started a snowball effect and girl after girl came out with more evidence to prove what this gymnast doctor did to them, by the end of this over 160 women came out before his court hearing, during this the number riced to near 300 hundred. 265 young girls traumatised by this monster in society.

What happened in the court

For the first time a live twitter feed was used during the trial because most of the victim no longer live in the state of the gym and have moved away, this allowed victims to get their version of events to get across and to know what's actually happening through out the trial. This busted the case massively because they allowed more victims to get involved with the court trial and to get more evidence and statements out to the court room when they are not able to get to the trial.

During the court 160 victims spoke out against Larry for counts of molesting and sexual abuse and this is where most information of the case came form because this is where we found out that the age range of Larry's victims where younger then 13 to around 15-16. This makes me feel sick due to that fact that as a coach I feel a level of responsibility for the athletes I help train I want them to feel like the club is a second family and then in other countries and clubs are treating younger generations like this and should be kept safe form predators like this.

My honest thoughts of this case

The more I think of this case the harder it becomes for me to think of a reason for how he got away with this act for so long and every time it becomes harder and harder to think of a logical reason. In my mind all I cant think of is that the club knew what was going on and they covered it up over the years to make sure that they club didn't get a bad names. The fact that there was no checking form the USA gymnastics to ensure all the students felt safe and to do checks on every single worker in the building and that they are safe and mentally safe to work with kids and people for that matter because Larry is clearly mentally ill and should have never been allowed to work in this environment to begin with. There defiantly need more check ups for staff because this could have been stopped after the first case not 265 if not more acts where committed. For obvious reasons Larry is to blame for committing these acts on his own however through further research I found that other people where involved as a "party" which meant that people at this club obviously knew what was going on, this creates a bad name for everyone else at the club that didn't know what was going on and also makes other doctors get questioned and they do their real job and what is in their contract. However the USA gymnast committee is also to blame manly because in the their job is to ensure the safety they present to children and they should have found out what was happening before this case got so big and they could have dealt with it much better then what they did.
For the future and in fact for right this second to prevent this from happening the USA gymnastics is that they should have multiple doctors and multiple coaching per club and every check up is supervised by an adult of the child being cared for, the committee should also do multiple checks on everyone that applies for a job in their sport to ensure they are safe to work with people the clubs aims at. This would create a safer environment for the people take want to take part in the sport. Imagine having you kid have gymnastics being their dream sport after this has been publicised would you as a parent feel safe your child attend a club without the extra precautions that they should take anyway?

Not only is this a dubious act in sport and its breaking obvious rules that are in place but it is a criminal act that is extremely looked down upon in the world and in most society if not every single one, this created a threating environment for Larry and is prison is probably the safest place for him to be because people are seriously angry with him and I think some people would throw all morals out the window if they saw him. Larry has been moved form prison to prison due to other inmates assaulting him and causing physical harm to him due to the acts he has done, due to the publicity of this case and the length of the sentence if he keeps moving prison I think he will eventually run out of prison he has to move to because of the amount of danger people threaten him with.

DO YOU THINK HE DESERVED THIS TREATMENT OR SHOULD JUST BE MOVES TO ISOLATION AND LEFT TO LIVE ALONE FOR THE REST OF HIS SENTACECE?
OR DO YOU FEEL A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT APPROCH DO YOU THINK THAT THERE SHOULD BE MORE THEN LARRY IN PRSION FORM THIS CASE OR OTHERS FROM THE GYM?

The term whistle blowers

this term is a person that starts to speak out first and starts a snowball effect. In this case Jessica Thomashaw was the "whistle blower" and was the main reason hundreds of other girls came out with their versions of events and was the real kick to get this man imprisoned for his sick crimes. Due to this I'm my opinion whistle blowers are extremely important in the sporting industry because they being subjects that should be brought to light and talked about and help get problems in this industry out into the open and sometimes dealt with. A very recent example of a whistle blower was when Serena William naturally stood up for herself during a match and brought up very apparent sexism that takes place in the sporting industry and how men get away with things that women don't. So if you see an issue in your sport speak up because you never know if people are in the exact same position as you and honestly you will help out the sport become a better version of it self and help develop the sport to a safer place for people.

Some positives of deviance is manly the entertainment value that comes from it, every single time a athletes has been found to be taking performance enhancing pills it is plastered on every single newspaper, and news broadcasting channel because people do listen when someone's been caught out in a devious act. Another positive is that due to the person standing out more and can be seen as a better sport person for being "good" at the sport they get spotted by much bigger clubs and get higher pay rates.

In the performers eyes they could feel much more confidence in this because they are preforming the sport better and also they are most likely getting more money form winning competitions and they feel mentally better form the pills.

The second a athletes performs a dubious act the increase the risk of danger on other sportsman for example the fighting in ice hockey can become extremely violent and cause serious harm. The acts also cause and unfair level of play and can cause the games to become boring and loose entertainment value. for example when footballers waste time and slows the game people slows down and causes fans to become bored this then ruins the games reputations. This also creates bad role models for people to look up to because they are not creating a good example for kids to go into a sport because they could see it as that guys doing it so I need to get to the same levels. To deal with the dubious act and testing for drugs cost millions a year if not more because the amount needed and cost companies so much that could be going on the making equipment and technology in sport much better.
