This is a photo of me the day I was born. I chose to use this photo for the newborn stage because it is a perfect representation of the beginning of my life and when I entered the world. Also, 7 pounds and 11 ounces is right around the average weight of a newborn, so this photo not only shows what I looked like but also what an average-sized baby looks like at birth.

Infancy

According to my parents my first word was "boat" I included a photo of a boat. I was on my grandparents' boat around 3 weeks old. I was always around the water and on the boat starting really young. It was the word that started my language journey as an infant. The average infant says there first word around 10-14 months and it usually has todo with something they hear or see frequently this makes sense since I was around a boat and hearing my parents and grandparents say the word "boat". This was really Important for me because it really is the first step into speaking and as an infant building my language.

This is a photo of me at the age of 5-6 years old riding a bike. I loved riding a bike at this age and would ride up and down my street for long periods of time. This shows a big part of early childhood physical development. Around this age, kids are improving their balance, coordination, and muscle strength, which are the skills that are needed to ride a bike. Learning to ride a bike is a big milestone for children because it shows that they are gaining control of their bodies and using gross motor skills. This photo is a great example of how children at this stage become more confident in their movements and enjoy being physically active.

I chose a photo of me dressed up as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz with my stuffed animal dog because it shows how imagination and pretend play are a big part of early childhood cognitive development. This was my favorite movie for a long time. Around this age, kids start using their imagination more during play, creating stories, and pretending to be different characters. This is exactly what I did when I dressed up as Dorthy and carried my stuffed dog everywhere. This kind of play helps develop thinking skills, memory, creativity, and even language. This photo captures how my imagination helped me learn and grow, and starting to learn and understand the world around me.

For early childhood social development I used to play with my next-door neighbor frequently. This is a good representation of early childhood social development and the importance of friendships and play.

Middle Childhood Physical Development

I chose a photo that has todo with basketball because around the age of 7, I started playing basketball at my school. At this stage, kids get stronger, faster, and more coordinated, which helps them take part in more complex physical activities like basketball, which I played. Basketball hits all of those targets for running, jumping, throwing, and quick movements, which are essential to physical development in middle childhood. This is a great example of how physical development supports active play and sports in middle childhood.

I chose a photo of Diary of a Wimpy Kid because it shows how reading becomes a big part of cognitive development during middle childhood. This was one of my favorite books and I read almost the whole series. Around this time kids start reading longer books and understanding more complex stories, emotions, and situations in deeper ways. Books like Diary of a Wimpy Kid help children improve their vocabulary, reading comprehension, and memory. They also encourage kids to think critically and relate to what they read. This book is a great example of how learning and thinking grow during this stage of development.
