  • This story is about a group of drummers who like music. They often receive angry responses from the audience. They are only able to control their emotions in response. They are always perceived as not doing anything. In fact, they graduated from Columbia University and completed a master's degree. One of the most important lessons they took was to learn humility. This is the most inspiring quality they have learned from playing the drums. No matter who hears their drumming, they love that the audience can enjoy it.

  • The two drummers

  • “Because in the end of the day,i have to control how i act.”

  • This sentence expresses how difficult it is for drummers. Because in the end of the day, he has to deal with all the emotions that he has been subjected to. He can only show humility and thus control himself.

  • “You can't control what people feel, so the best thing you can do is to be humble.”

  • This is a very meaningful and practical passage. We can't make others do anything for us. Doing our own thing is good enough, we can't take care of everyone's emotions and feelings. But I don't think it's good to be humble all the time; a certain amount of bravado can make you feel more confident.

  • “They may think we had no other goal of our lives.”

  • This phrase is indicative of the fact that their performances appear to others to be lounging around. It is evident that they are not very popular. Even though it was only their own preference, it was a sign to others that they were not studying properly.

  • 4. what "lesson" does the reader learn from the story?


  • They have learnt how to become humble and control their emotions. They need to have a good mindset to face each day with a whole new set of others and themselves. They are going their own way and suiting up and no one can make them stop.

  • Is this a good story?

  • I think it's a great story. Because in reality a lot of people in life can't control their emotions. And they're just doing what they love, but they're still getting some unkind feedback from the audience. They learned how to adapt to this very well and block out the outside voices. That mentality and calmness is something I should learn from.

    • The post is based on a woman whose name is Daisy. She states that it is her firm belief and advice to others that they should take a plant home and name it after themselves. They should take care and nourish them, and this would symbolize that they should take care of themselves before anyone else. People should cut the dying leaves, give healthy minerals, and keep track of the growth of the plant. She states that this strategy has worked for her and would also work for the people who find it difficult to self-love. This has also allowed her to take care of herself while amending relations with her mother.

      1. Who is/are the main characters of the story?

    • Daisy is the main character of the story as the post has her pictures with plants, family and other hobbies like jujitsu. She is the one who has given the advice for people to take plants and name them after themselves.

      2. I like that the post doesn’t only give one picture of the main character but many. This gives depth to the post. It shows that Daisy actually means what she is saying by showing plants in her living room, and her picture with her mother.
      3. She mentions, “in my apartment there are four plants named after me.” I really like that Daisy has mentioned how she has 4 different plants representing 4 elements of her personality. This makes the activity interesting and helpful.
      4. “You need to put yourself first, second, and third. When you’re back to one hundred, then you can take care of the world.” I also like this part because we try our best to make the world a better place, while not caring about ourselves. This is very important and healthy point mentioned here.
      5. What "lesson" does the reader learn from the story?

    • The readers learn the importance of self-love. There are many things that people add in their life, like an activity, people, relations, and properties but if it doesn't nourish your soul, it is your job to get rid of it. It's  You can't take care of others if you're not ok.

      1. Is this a good story? Why or why not? Be specific.

    • This is a very good story because it guides people in how they can start caring about themselves. This is a topic that isn’t covered, but it is extremely important. There are any people who are depressed just because they care about others more than themselves. The activity advised by Daisy is very simple and can be done by anyone, whether they are rich or poor.
