The Research Process is a process which served as a guide for scientist to conduct of an investigation into a problem as identified by management or field of study. This process can be broken- down into six steps, which begins with the problem definition and ended with the presentation of the results or finding. One notable point for consideration in a research process is exploration, this is the first phase, which includes selecting research questions, conduct further investigation, examine published literature and identify theories that may have help answer the research. The unit also explored the use of the literature review as a process and a product to gain a better understanding of the body of knowledge available relevant to a research problem

Research design utilizes a variety of methods which provide a detailed plan for conducting research of a topic under investigation. These methods are qualitative, quantitative and mixed approaches, for these methods, one will need to identify what variables are to be measured. Ordinal, nominal, ratio and interval are some of the ways information pertaining to the variables is measured. The collection of data in research can be seen as probability and non-probability forms of sampling when selecting samples from a larger population, the internet can also be source of data collection and analysis in research design.

The Research Proposal

In doing a research proposal, I have learned communication plays an important process between management and the researcher. This process helps to identify the problem and put forward ways for addressing those problems. I also learned the proposal provides the reader with clear reasons why the study should be undertaken and all the persons who will benefit. It also provides information on the design of the project, how the data will be analyzed, the qualifications of the research personnel, and other information such as the time schedule within which the project will be completed.

I also learned the proposal and report contain similar components, the proposal is written to communicate what will be done while the report is written to communicate what was done and findings of the study. I learned that, like with written reports, the oral presentation should have an introduction, the body and conclusion in delivering an effective presentation. No presentation without practice will aid in strengthening your presentation skills.

In data collection, it is important to pay attention to the sources from which data can be collected its criteria, its advantages, and its disadvantages when determining the value of data the researcher is going to use. I have learned there is a difference between primary and secondary data; primary data is first-hand information that is tailored to meet the purpose and objectives of its study and is more costly and time-consuming. While secondary data are third party information and requires less time and money and is easier to obtain than primary data.

In data collection, various methods can be used for data collection such as observation, interview, and survey methods. Data can also be obtained from online sources, libraries, catalogues, books, journals and magazines and many other sources. The collection of data requires adequate fieldworkers and managers to perfect the quality of data which will minimize errors in the data collection process.

I have learn a research proposal is an in-depth analysis of a problem or statements, which are written mostly by a scientist or academic researchers, the research can be exploratory, descriptive or explanatory. The research proposal outlines the process from beginning to end, the methods involved in the research and may be used to request financing for the project, the main purpose of a research proposal is to verify the hypothesis through logical scientific method the empirical data collected and arrive at a conclusion that will aid managers in their decision making while monitoring the issues that were identified in the investigation.

In conducting a survey research exercise, I have learned that a good design of a questionnaire can help to lessen the amount errors that the interviewer and respondent may experience, therefore, in the constructing questionnaire strict guideline should be followed to achieved relevance and accuracy of the questions taking in mind the benefit and limitations of open-ended and closed questions. I have also learned, the reliability and validity is critical to the survey outcome, therefore, the selection, design and the medium of communication are all important factors to decide on in a survey; meanwhile the flexibility and completion of the survey tool depend on how comfortable respondents are with a self-administered question compared to other methods.

I have learn in data preparation and presentation it is importance to check the data for omissions, consistency, legibility and errors to ensure the integrity of the data because it is more difficult to analyse and interpret unless it is appropriately displayed in a visual form. Also I have learn that a data dictionary is a process where the collection of descriptions of the data objects or items in a database shows the relationship between data fields, data records, data files and databases while in data entry it is the process of inputting data gathered into a database for manipulation, storage and analysis, it is also important for data analysis to be edited and clean throughout preparation of data at the respective stages in the process

As a researcher it is importance for me to use data analysis tool, to summarize the basic qualitative data analysis process, describe processes involved in analyzing qualitative data and analyze qualitative data using appropriate data analysis techniques. I have also learn how to determine frequency, central tendency, dispersion and correlation of quantitative data, which can be distinguished between descriptive and inferential statistics, using tables, graphs and charts to display and interpret descriptive data
