Michelangelo started as a painter’s apprentice before studying at the sculpture gardens of the powerful medici family. He did his training to become a better sculptor, artist, and architect under Ghirlandaio when he was young and Bertoldo di Giovanni when he was taken to the medici family. He was able to work under some of the finest artists and philosophers there were as well. Michelangelo did the david and the pieta statue which are some of his most famous works. He as well did the ceiling painting of the sistine chapel, including the last judgment. When michelangelo was 17 he was hit in the nose out of anger by another artist named pietro torrigiano that is why when you see portraits of michelangelo his nose is broken. Michelangelo was a poet as well on the offside he managed to write about 300 poems.
Michelangelo died at the age of 88 in February 18, 1564
